Does he have anti-aliasing turn on or off. How about vsync on or off?
I'm not talking in the game itself. I'm talking about in the video card properties.

Sorry to correct you like this Mr.Hz, but the 8xxx series, all of them, including the 8800 series, does NOT need DirectX10. It is simply DX10 capable.
I have been witness to test rigs running 8800GTS 640MB and 8800GTX, Red Faction is the only game I saw that had this issue. Of course, I didn't give him any other games to test on, but still... 8xxx series does not require DX10 by using Vista. I recommend staying with WinXP Home/Pro until the Vista SP1 is released. Otherwise if you go Vista, frame rates you will lose while gaming.

The 8xxx series drivers are the issue to the problem seen in Red Faction. nVidia has been aware of this due to several emails recieved, however, they have stated to not be supportive of 6yr old games. My suggestion, is to purchase a cheap cheap rig for Red Faction if you want to play it. |

8800 cards don't need dx10 to work properly on a xp machine
I guess its a new setting in the Nvidia control panel that is not working properly with RF..... |

We know hoser. I made the mistake of answering right after coming from the "Coffee Bean" and thus I called the level coffee house. |

Blazaholic is your buddy using the 93.81 beta drivers. I just installed them and I get the hall of mirror on large maps at a distance. I'm going back to 93.71v. |

Go here for some good 3rd party drivers. They're built off of the standard drivers, so you may still have the same problem, but it couldn't hurt to try. |

I wouldnt use the Omegadrivers if i were u as the Nvidia drivers has not been updater for almost 2 years now and it would probably not even work with his card
www.ngohq.com is a good site with great Nvidia 3rd party drivers |
