Quoting NoClanFrank | I got a question; What is the difference between normal and low resolution?
Don't tell me the file size either.
OK, here is yet another question; So you have 3 version then?
|
The difference between them all is, for the high res version the average texture size is 1024x1024 and everything looks crisp and sharp and good and everything with text on it is readable and clear. For the normal res version the average texture size is 512x512 so it still looks pretty good and you can still read stuff on labels and stuff. On the low res version the average texture size is 256x256 and stuff looks ok from far but when u get up close everything looks all streached and blurry and the text on most things is just a blur and completely unreadable.
So yes 3 versions. A high res for people like me that want the best graphics possable and the nicest looking and don't mind a huge file size. A normal res version for people who don't want a extremely huge file size but still want it to look pretty good. and a low res version for people that want to spend the least amount of time downloading and don't really care about looks and want as much extra fps they can get. And there all compatable with each other because I didn't edit the rfl for each version, I just took the textures and lowered their res, and all the game checks is the rfl name, date and size, which is the same for each version.
Quoting ninja | I have a question.. are these filesizes already compressed using winrar or is it just the vpp size |
Ya there the compressed rar size

Hello there, Sorry for this late reply. Havent been on L4Y for some time.
I can help you fix your problem with not being able to run Red Faction servers.
If you are running a Firewall over your LAN, you will need to follow these instructions for Windows XP Service Pack 2 Users.
1) Right click "My Network Places" on the desktop and go to Properties.
2) Right click your Default Local Area Connection and go to Properties.
3) Click on the "Advanced" tab at the top and click the button "Settings" next to Firewall settings.
4) Click on the "Exceptions" tab at the top of the Windows Firewall Settings.
5) In the box below you will see ticky boxes. Find "Red Faction" and make sure its ticked.
6) If you do not see "Red Faction" in the ticky box, click the "Add Port.." button below the box
7) In the "Name" box, put "Red Faction". In the "Port Number" box, add Red Factions port numbers in "7776" (I think?)
8) Keep it set as TCP and click OK.

CRAP!
ok did you try logining into your LAN settings.
To access your LAN settings, you will need your Default Gateway IP Address. By default, its usually "192.168.1.1" but it could be many IP address according to your LAN brand.
To find your Default Gateway IP Address, follow these steps:
1) Right click "My Network Places" and go to Properties.
2) Right click your Default LAN connection and go to Properties.
3) at the bottom of the box, look for a tick box that says "Show icon notification area when connected". Tick that box.
4) Click ok and Two computer screens will be shown on your System icon tray. (you can use this to study the usage of your internet. When the screens flash blue, it means that internet activity is present.)
5) Right click the icon and go to "Status"
6) Click on the "Support" tab at the top.
This window will display your IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.
Look at your Default Gateway IP address, and type it into a Internet Browser (Internet Explorer Recommended). The LAN settings can only be accessed by computers remotely connected to your Local Area Network. Outside internet users cannot access your settings.
(A password might be asked, Sometimes one isnt set so click Login.)
Go through all your settings until you find something that looks like this. (May be different)

***Warning*** Be VERY careful when changing these settings. Some Programs that use the internet could be affected by these changes. |

Did you just put the IP Address in without http://.
If you didn't, then this means that your LAN either does not support these settings, or the settings have not been fully customized or installed. Relate to your LAN hubs manual for more help, or contact your LAN hub brand for more help. |

Frank did you get your upload speed fixed? I'm ready to test now. The attempt to go SLI was a failure Everything that could go wrong did... One of the video cards got all messed up, like on the first boot screen there would be a line of normal then a line of messed up colours and then as it continued text would get all messed up and just be different symbols then the comp would eventually turn off, then when I made the working card the main one nothing would show up on the screen and there would be no beeps or anything, or nothing would show up on the screen then there would be a bunch of beeps then the comp would turn off, so I put the old mobo back in. I think I may have got a faulty mobo...
Anyway lets test... It would be nice though if we could get more then just me and frank testing... C'mon PPL, Test with us! |
