Actually the WGS admin uploads some of his modified levels to HIS site and YOU upload them to THAT site.

Well each piece has more then 1 side, like boxes have 5 or 6 depending on if u can see the bottom or not. If you can't even see a face I didn't bother texturing it.

And for faces in map:

Faces: 17940/10500
Face Vertices: 77733/50400
Vertices: 21132/13650

But I still have to add the computer and after I add it, the map will be around:

Faces: 19053/10500
Face Vertices: 82179/50400
Vertices: 22257/13650

Because i'm building it in a sepperate map then I'm going to add it to the map as a group, and it pretty much just needs to be textured still.

How big is the RFL file itself without textures?
That would be enough to see and I'll use my imagination for the textures. Mind you, my imagination is fairly colorful.


Theres some pics of it in the pimp my map thread so you don't need to imagin it.
But if you still want to know the rfl size so you can imagin it, the rfl is 20522kb so 20.5mb It's only about 2.5mb rared though.

Thats downloading at about 5-6kb/s though. When I was on 56k I only used to get around 3 so it would take about 21h for me if I were to try to d/l it on 56k.

Nope. I haven't uploaded any of his files to filefront.com. I did create the WGS map pack and somebody else uploaded it to the site. He uploads them to the server for other to get the files. he is that type of person, from what I can see and the few emails I had with him. He was/is very helpful when I asked for help.
molodiets, you can see who uploaded the files when you go to the download page. Sometimes it will say who, if the person was logged in. Which I always am. I've only uploaded 3 files to that site.

DVL_IAC you are right. I remember that I was lucky to get 4.7 when I was on dial up. I wasn't that lucky that often.
But I downloaded your map pack in about ten minutes, which is still a long time for a Red Faction map.

OK the server is back up.

I checked the jump pad regions and they seem to be set correctly. No more bumping on the head. Even though the one leading to the RCA tapes could be a bit little stronger, maybe .25 but it does work. I had no noticed the jump pad behind the monitor until right now, that one is set too strong as well.
I see I can no longer dominated in the map from the chair. Glad(or not ) that you fixed the re-spawn times on it/them.
There is another thing that bugs me, the bird house. I went in it today to clean the cage out and I noticed one thing. Invisible textures all around. Which meant I can look all the way around without being seen. I can also fire all weapons without any fear of them bouncing back at me. To me that room makes it unfair. The only fair thing about is that to get to it, you did place a rain gun, which someone could use to smoke the puppy inside.
You do have that other speaker from which you can fire rail guns from, it would be a good idea to replace one of the weapons near by it to a rail gun, just so it doesn't be a player an unfair advantage for too long.
Well that is all I have to add for now.
Oh did I mention that the server(Canadian Testing Grounds) is back up.

For the jp to get to tape, it wasn't really intended for you to land on the tape, your just supposed to sidestep or turn around and land on the PCG but I guess I could make it stronger so it's easier to land on the tape. Also the bird house is supposed to be a player advantage because it's tricky to get into, but there is a rail ontop of it and becide the jp to get onto the shelf, so it wouldn't be too hard to get em outta there. anyway I poped into the server for like 20 min and I was all alone. So I left..

I was watching "Cry Wolf". Sorry about the disconnection errors you got. I refreshed the router and modem and it seems like that did the trick. I didn't notice it because I was connected via LAN. I didn't realize it was at my end until I joined redfaction.info server and I was the only one getting the red disconnect icon of death.

What i find clever about this map is IAC's going over RED limits technique,If brushes are keyframed they will not be included towards the face/vertex limit?

That means your getting more map for your download..

Only problem is air brushes cant be keyframed very good.. but for solid brushes its nearly worth making them all into groups...

Although you can carve solid brushes ect, you will end up with alot of unwanted face & vertices trying to do that..

yes but that doesnt matter if your using this technique does it?

Well i have not used this technique, SO I dont know.. But from expirience Im sure it would decrease the framerate to be unplayable..

RED's Limits are as high as the RF's System specs, Faster computers can handle higher than RED's Limits..

It might be a good idea to mention you have exceeded the regular limits in your Level info because it could damage some Slower PC's.

I highly doubt it would damage slower pc's.. all it would do is lag and get low fps on slower pc's. I will include in my description though that lower end pc's prolly wont be able to run the map.

I probably wont be in to test for atleast another hour because I have a bunch of homework, so you could probably close the server if you want because it seams noone wants to d/l a 200+mb map. so once I finish lowering the res of the textures I'll upload the lower res version of the map and maybe more people will be into testing if the file size was smaller. It'd be nice to get atleast 5 ppl.

Well I'll keep it up. I won't be able to join for another hour. I have to do some work on the television. It turns out that it doesn't watch itself, so I will have to keep an eye on it for about an hour as well.
