How about a Futuristic theme? That will be cool since all maps will be high tech, shiny and all. |

What if one was more expirienced in the area of Fire rather than ice? surely you want to bring out the best of all the mappers.
Im guessing its DM, my suggestions would be to go with default textures and aim to make more maps alike the originals.. or go with a theme that is more broad and doesnt decide the setting of the map and just have a theme that works when doing a map pack..
More ideas from everybody would be better |

Yes a Mappack with defult textures but some mappers would disagree with me and want to use custom textures. |

Well I can say that if RFU5 does come into being, I will not be at the helm. Both RFU3 and RFU4 were for all intents and purposes, failures. The maps were played for a week and then forgotten. I can't stand to see people work hours upon hours to come up with a really nice map, and then have no one play it. Some folks decided they didn't want to play for one reason or another (packs to big, maps not available individually, yada, yada, yada) There are large numbers of mappers who promise to map, and then its like pulling teeth trying to get them to finish. Then testing is a nightmare, because each tester has their own ways of testing.
RFU1 and 2 were great, and if there is a 5, I hope we can get back to what it used to be. Maybe it was me...I dunno. I'll help test, I'll play, but thats it. Beatonator has privelages to the CDC, and it needs some serious help. When things got moved to the new site, everything got knocked out of whack.
Good luck with it. |

Then read the "SPMC 2K5" thread. . There's no CDC on it, and the rules are all over the place (well, the rules are: you can do anything, provided it has a story, isn't part of a previous project, and fits under 2MB compressed). The deadline is 1 December, 2005, plenty of time to map. |

My point is that the RFU packpacks have always chosen a theme which clearly decides the fate of the map.. why make 25 halloween theme maps in 1 map, 25 music themed maps in 1 pack, 25 winter snowy maps in 1 pack.. Wouldnt it make more sense to have 1 of each in the pack to add some variety not just style and layout of the map and mappers but the actual story itself
That way you could have 25 completely different and original maps all in 1 pack
I havent actually downloaded the any of the RFU map packs due to the massive filesize and me being on 56k.. but id be more persuaded to if they were different maps. |

If there is a 5th RFU then I think I too will sit it out, alot of time and effort that went into some of the maps ( including mine ) in RFU4. But people just don't play them. |

Coz their damn big.Why not try doing this
Make the maps separately and make their name have a RFU<-{The number of the RFU example RFU5]Like RFU5_DM_XXX
And for the high speeders they can download the whole map pack. |
