Well I finally got high speed (wireless highspeed came available in my area ) but for some reason when I get a server list for RF is says pinging servers and you can see it going through the servers but none show up... kinda like when ur running RFSA on the same port as RF... but I'm not running rfsa... I tried other games and the same thing happens... it pings the servers but I can't see them... any ideas anyone on whats happening and how I can fix it? |

First things first, are you behind a firewall?
If so, your firewall might not be allowing RF to show the servers.. try allowing RF through. |
Back in RF... getting back into the swing of things! |

There is no fire wall running what soo ever. Unless the serverice provider is running something like that. Even with a fire wall you would still see the servers. This problem seems to only be related to the new wireless highspeed connections |

Hmm, have you checked from ISP that those ports needed to que RF servers are open ?
Also in most cases RF must be run with server rights even just playing because RF server needs to set something on your machine (something to do with listing active servers)
For second I recomend that you use firewall to protect your internet connection, otherwise you will become a zombie. (meaning spam spreader slave) |

From what i can find out , he is useing netport usa service. They issue customers static private ip address's (standard). Same as your own router would do. 1 option is, They can issue a static public ip address for a an extra 10 bucks a month. Second option , is to open the ports needed for that private ip as needed. Anyways its definatly on the providers end. They advertise it as great for gameing with low ping times. But that doesnt do any good if you cant even see any server. |

When I first got Verizon DSL they sent me a wireless modem that had 4 ports for use as a regular router. Let face it if you want to host a game, you should really host it on a hard line and not wireless. It was the wost piece of crap I have ever used. I could not open any freaking ports or should I say. I followed the instruction to open the port. The page said that they were open but I still couldn't host a game. I could only join them. I finally called my ISP and asked them to send me a regular DSL modem. I already had a LINKSYS router. It's all good now. The DSL modem in question was made by WESTEL and I think it was model number 2600...
I only wished that I could have gotten it to work. I would have only to have one box instead of two.
I just remember what really happen. I finally got it to open the port but I couldn't see my own server and even when I typed in the address manually it would not allow me to join. That is the reason why I asked them to send me a regular DSL modem. |

I wasn't talking about a wireles router. Theres a big intena on my roof that has a network cable comming off of it that goes right into my pc, then it recieves a wireless high speed internet signal from a tower 4.42 miles away then transfers that signal into my comp. Anyway I contacted my ISP and they did a few remote adjustments and now I can get a server list. Low ping is so nice. |

No clan,i have that westel router modem combo and im not to fond of it either. The setup page is utter chaos. Why they made it that way i will never know. But anyways i disabled the wireless portion of it and everything seems to pass thru fine. Can host, play, remote assistance, ect... Kind of make me wonder if it protecting me from anything. I was thinking of asking for just a modem, but fiber optic will be hooked up next week.15mb/2mb.
Oh just incase you didnt know verizon up'd there speed to 3mb/786. I had to ask them for that speed, instead of them just giveing it to me
DVL_IAC did they tell you what adjustments they made? did you ask them to open a port for you? like 7755 or did they just tweak yuor port settings .They told my friend he had to buy a public ip(which is bull 5hit) If you know what they did exactly let me know. |

I don't know what they did. I told the guy my problem then I could hear him typing a bunch of things. Then he said re start my computer and unplug my router if I was using one then re plug it in, and when my computer was re started, boom I could see servers. |

I disable the wireless part too. I was able to host game too. I was not however able to join the servers that I host. That was actually my whole problem with it. I called Verizon and they didn't provide support for the router/modem combo . They said I needed to call the company itself. They had east coast hours and they closed at 5PM EST and I get off work at 6PM EST (3PM PST ) and I always forgot to call from work. So I just said F-it and asked for a modem only, I am still using my LINKSYS router. I can host and join my own server now.
Fiber Optics is not available in this area as yet but I heard rumors that it might be in September. If it is I might think about getting it. What is the price like for Fiber Optics? |

frank you seam to be good with routers.. I have to be behind a router now and I'm following this tut to force ports so I can host a server in RF. I did everything, like make a static ip, up until the part where I have to log onto my router. It says use the user name "admin" and just leave the password blank but it's not letting me log on.... Is there anyway to reset the router to its default settings, just incase the reason it's not letting me on is one time or another throughout the years I might have added a pass but don't remember it. |
