It does take a little while to get used to... easier for new members to get into the site in the first place. You guys are hooked anyway and a little adjustment isn't going to harm things

I don't like logging in to view the Portal. The last system would set the cookie anyway. Can you not use sessions instead? Then only the people who want to be remembered have to click the Logout link. Which I might add works better now, only having to click the damn thing once.

In Reply to Thread, the emoticons are not clickable in Netscape. [Netscape 7.2 is kicking Firefox's but at the moment ]. The alt="" boxes are working though, so you can work it out .. just.

The layout sits much nicer on every computer I view the site on. It never did that before. I like how each games section has its own skin ... dare I say, very professional. The forum buttons [Start, Reply etc] are much nicer and easier to read. Only thing I don't like is there is no odd even colours anymore

The affiliates are sometimes a little misplaced. Personally I think that area would be better served by CDC projects. I used to enjoy having a little more colour in the page. The Hot Topics per section is very cool.

The Account Settings page [for those who never use it, me included] is much better set out and worded.

The Nav is great.

Be careful with those Google ads in the middle of threads. I know for a fact that Google does not support this kind of campaign. It has been attempeted before and stopped before. Besides, they annoy the living crap out of me when trying to read threads. Stick them at the bottom of the page, so when we have finished reading the page we can click the ad.

Logging in to view the portal is done so that guests cant click the portal link and see nothing because its their first time to the site. If they have to register they'll have something on the portal page by the time they login.

Sessions are used.

Netscape? You mean someone actually uses that browser? The last good netscape browser was like version 3, version 4 likes to crash more than displaying webpages and everything else has been crap. Netscape 8 is just a moronified version of Firefox... its all kiddified... if you want NN8 just download Firefox instead...

Forum buttons are generated automatically by the site based on the colour scheme. I like them as well

Affiliates are per section based so they'll be on some areas of the site but not others. We need to keep those as otherwise our affiliates tend to get a little annoyed

The positioning of Google ads on a page is not in their TnC's...

Quote

Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page.

We only use up to 2.

Quote

A maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes may be placed on a page.

Dont use at all.

Quote

A single link unit may be placed on each Web site page, in addition to the ad units and search boxes specified above. Link units are considered to be 'Google ads' for purposes of these programme policies.

Dont use at all.

Quote

No Google ad may be placed on any non-content-based pages. This includes error, login, registration, "thank you" or welcome pages.

Google ads are not shown on error, login, registration or redirect pages.

Quote

No Google ad or Google search box may be displayed on any domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, or in any email.

Dont use any of these here.

Quote

No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant.

We dont have any of these.

Quote
Elements on a page must not obscure any portion of the ads, and the ad colours must be such that any ad elements, including text and URL, are visible.

All ads are 100% visible.

Quote

Clicks on Google ads must not result in a new browser window being launched.

Worst TnC IMO, I prefer people to stay here as well as viewing what they wish. If I click on something that takes me to another site when I've not finished with the existing site I usually hit the back button in my browser and either 1) ignore the other site or 2) reclick the link but right clicking and choosing open in new window. Both of which Google wouldn't want someone doing because 1) doesn't help out their clients 2) counts a second hit.

I think a quote button would be good. I don't think we really need a strikethrough button... it's already been over-used since the switch. Also, how about a color drop-down?

In addition, you should add a link on the "Submit Stuff" page to submit a "Screenshot" cuz as of right now that has no way of getting used.

Good work on the site roger, feels alot quicker to use now, feels more open and crispy! Think it will take me a while to get used to only one side bar! Here's my requests and niggles:

Request 1: I agree with Shmageggy that there should be a homing link at the top of the page somewhere, found my self scrabbling for a link back to the safety of the good old blue ;-)

Request 2: would it be possible to have a list of our most recent posts when we view our portal pages? just the last 5 or so maybe. Is handy if you are out of it for a few days to be able to find those threads/posts that were replied to but are no longer in the 'recent threads list'.

Niggle: On the border where it runs diagonally, the lines are thinner than the vertical and horizontal segments. Just think they might look nicer if they were the same size. No biggy, just me being picky!

Thats it, im done! ;-) Oh, glad you are trying to get plantary conquest up and running btw, i miss playing these sorts of games, ahh the good old times of playing Planetarion in IT class while me and msm were supposed to be doing work! That was a long time ago! back in good old 1998!

I personally agree with cyrus5 and shamagegaggy on that, would be nice to have clicking on the logo in the top corner of the site redirect you to L4Y home.

-is there ever gonna be a "Delete PM's older then 1 day" button? because that would be nice or is the "delete PM's older then 1 week" gonna come back? or am i going to manually have to clear all 15 pages of ims's when i get there?

-since it doesnt show "latest reviews" any more would it be possable to let us track reviews like we track topics, so then when a review is posted on a file were tracking, we'll be sent an ims saying a new review has been posted, then it gives a link to the file. ?
