I'm not sure what the other people around here think of coldplay.
I like some songs but i'm not a great fan or something, I also noticed that some songs are really similar. The people that know cold play surely knows "Clocks" from there second last album and "Speed of sound" from there last album. They are way to similar, to prove this they are played together. listen to it here:

Wow when it first started i actually thought it was one song and was waiting for 2nd song to start until about 15 sec in and i realised that there were two different lyrics playing. (i dont really know any coldplay songs.) lol so they can just reuse music and change some lyrics and think people wont notice well obviously they were wrong

Personally I enjoy the sound of Colplay, and thier new album does have a lot of new twists to their sound. I'm a big Coldplay fan, and although I can admit that a few songs sound similar, that's like saying all Guns and Roses songs are the same because they involve guitars and lots of wailing.

Personally I think they are the best British band out there in popular(Mtv culture). I went to see them live last night. It was excellent, sounds alot better live and they played a nice mix of songs from the 3 albums, it wasn't new album heavy at all. Off topic: They had a Playstation 2 tent at it... CENSORED , it's 5 years old. Alot sarcastic jokes were made about going in to play Tekken.

I remember when I was really big into Oasis when they first came out and I used to get stick of my mates for liking them because "All their music sounds the same". I think "Speed of Sound" sound more like U2 than Clocks. Clocks is an amazing tune, SoS is not.

I got their live dvd not the same but its still good!

I think the new album has a air of pink floyd ness about it on some of the tracks.

And a ps2 tent with tekken in hahaha.

Would that be the Aussie gig DVD that's sitting up on my shelf? You are right...it's not the same. Open air concert with 30,000 people. I was bladdered.

Coldplay are good... although i'm not really a fanatic of them . I just like a few of their songs, mostly off Parachutes but a few off X & Y.

I have always hated Coldplay, and have never been able to grasp their popularity. Its just so boring and monotonous, as said all their songs sound the same and his singing is not great either......but then for some reason they are popular

Nope, the live 2003 DVD is filmed in the Horden Pavillions, Sydney. It says inside the case.

The Plymouth gig I went to was better though.

His singing isn't great? Hold on, I have something for you...

You don't like Coldplay or maybe it's just that style of music, that's fair enough, but I bet you havn't heard everyone of their songs. Why would you? You hate them. You speak of what you don't know. The reason that they are popular is because they make music that is widely(Very widely)accepted as being good music.

I noticed the similarity too when I heard those two songs on the radio. I am wondering how they could get away with that lol....

Its just his singing is whining and there is no great musicianship to back him up.....sure I havent heard all their songs but from whatI have heard I does not impress.

And think what else is "popular" : Surviour, Big Brother, American Idol....etc. It does not mean it is good because tone deaf teenage females like it (just because they are the biggest market to make a mass jump in the charts(yes I may be out of line and it may not be true but yeah)).

But this is a non winable situation, people like certain things and it cant be changed

Hmmm their guitarists are brilliant, they almost hit pink floyds dave gilmour status, and you think their tone deaf.

Doh.
