No, still no blue cross showing up when I hit the CTRL_G then open up the clip tool window and start clicking everywhere on the brush, still nothing happens, it probably dosen't work on my machine. Red dosen't work probably for me, it won't display all the textures properly in the texture browse window but shows up the top row of the textures while the rest underneath in the window is all blacked out and not displaying all the textures.
Red limits breached?, Yep, (20,000 fces and its still going !)

Try adjusting the size of your grid.

what exactly are you running? i cant imagine RED not working on any machine, unless it has errors on it. the requirements for RED are that of a 6+year old pc. please tell me yours is more capable than that. if so, then id suggest completely removing RF(save your usermaps folder first) from your machine. shut down completely(not restart) before reinstalling. hopefully thatll solve any issues RED is giving you.

You can do a lot of new effects by using mods.
VFX files allow you to create moving and morphing meshes.

example:
Imagine a cube is jumping in a WorldOfCubes map up and down and while it touches the ground it squeezes and while it jumps up it stretches...like a rubber

another example:
You know that: brushes in keyframe groups doesn't use alpha channels (can't be transparent)
But if you create a glassdoor mesh (clutter object) and use it instead of the brush - it'll use the alpha channel.

Ok, you cannot make a mod for every map..

are you running RED in compatible Win98 mode?

Yes I have adjusted the size of my grid, still nothing happening. It was working on my old hp pavillion computer with windows 95 on it, but this new computer running xp, red dosen't seem to fully function as well for some reason, but only affects a few things like not seeing all the textures when I try to browse them and clipping, could be a video card thing..

I don't know if this is new:
When you want to have brighter objects in your map, but you want to set the ambient light to totally black, heres my tip:

Instead of setting the ambient light to black, use a brighter color.
Add a room effect inside a room - CTRL+P
Set the Room Effect to Ambient Light
Then set the ambient color on the bottom to a dark color, NOT totally black (not RGB 0,0,0) - as I can remember, it didnt work.

Now press L and the room will be black, but entities and pickups will be as bright as the ambient light set in the Level Properties.

Note that you have to add this room effect into every room that was cut off by a portal.
And also don't set the Ambient Light in the Level Properties too bright...the players will also be brighter.

Gee guys, I DID adjust the size of my grid and still no blue cross, strange, oh well, I'll just use the carve tool instead to get what I want.

When I get to about 9600 faces not quite at the 10500 limit, Red starts to become unstable on my computer and starts to crash on me.

I wish this engine of Red would do up to 20 or 30,000 faces at least before reaching its limit.

BTW, I have looked at the Lucas Arts Star Wars Game Engines, and that engine has way larger maps, and big huge outdoor areas, and lot of detail, I came to the conclusion that these games must be capable of producing double or more faces than the Red Editor's limit.
