me on, 12mb connection + Res:1680x1050 HD + 30fps+ + hosting a server for other people =DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! DEAD!

I imagine moving thumb-sticks, sending them to a server for the amount of time they are hold in that certain place is laggys its self. There's nothing wrong with consoles or pc's we have now. and if piracy is a problem then do what smart game company do!!! and make it so you have to register the games CD key to your online account. e.g Blizzard makes millions of money and you can't play online on any of their games without an official game. Sure you can get private servers, you'll never stop that. but they are buggy as CENSORED and not worth the hassle.

P.S It's to early for Aprils fools jokes

edit: DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! DEAD!

Actually, Blizzard are losing a fair amount of money due to the Pirvate servers, which aren't as buggy as people think. they have issues, but everything takes time to update.
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

There's an easy way to stop mass games piracy though, and that is to make good games in the first place. People usually pirate games either because they're crap and aren't worth money, or because they don't want to be tied to restrictive DRM.

hehe that's says it all. I 100% agree. I'll be honest I do that my self. not because I want the game market to fail, no!! it's because some games may look good but once you play them they could be CENSORED because they have been rushed, not balanced, or full of bugs.. why are so many games buggy nowadays? once you paid for them they don't care. If the game is good I'll go buy it, I've brought my fair share. usually if its a console game then comes out for PC you know its gunna be CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED and CENSORED CENSORED ! excuse my language, if you bring it out for PC then console ya'll have a playable game for all platforms!! Borderlands was crap for PC, Dragon age.. ehhh its OK but so limited to your settings because of console. i never tryed Halo for PC but i heard 3rd one was bad. Oblivion was good I must admit. there is also some mouse lag on those games.. maybe its just been coincidence on all 3 of my computers, I have to turn max pre-rendered frames down to 0 or 1. but hey this is my opinion don't bite my head off please.. anyway im going way off topic

Some times I have got to laugh at the negativity on these forums................the same forums that said the Ps3 was too overpriced and would not be as good as the wii.............(LOL).

less than a decade ago how many of us had broadband...........................less than 5 years ago how many people downloaded movies...........................less than 2 years ago how many people streamed movies.

now 10 years ago I was downloading games so maybe its time they are streamed..................just a thougth............we don't know what there plans are to do this . But hell it will be interesting to just maybe findout and as GAMERS hope it works.

As a gamer who enjoys a quality gaming experience, I hope it fails. It's impossible for this to have as little latency as running a game from a high RPM HDD or SSD with our current technology.

I said the PS3 was overpriced - which is why it hasn't done near as well as the 360.

Sure, it's warm and fluffy to entertain the thought that we can stream games to our TVs and never have to buy a new machine - but it's just not practical, which makes it pointless to even think about it.

Oh, I also like the fact that software piracy is a very effective method of telling developers/publishers how well their game was received and I'd hate to see this method vanish.

inb4 "lol u hate the gaming industry and just wanna pirate everything thats why ur against onlive!!!!1111ONEONE" comments.
I map stuff. Sometimes.

Yes you are right, there is a lot of negativity on these forums, but this is what you should expect when people share their opinions. It is a matter of debate.

We already know what they plan to do with this Onlive thing. It even says so on their website.

Quoting Onlive website
http://www.onlive.com/service/how_onlive_works.html
* Connect to OnLive with your TV, PC or Mac® and start a game
* Your game runs in a state-of-the-art OnLive game server center
* OnLive connects you to game servers through the Internet, instantly sending your controller actions upstream and the results back downstream at blinding fast speeds
* Enjoy ultra high-performance gameplay on your TV or entry-level PC or Mac

As my self, goober and various other people have stated, you need to look at our current technology so far. We so far have broadband and fibre optic speeds.
Now that may be good and ok, but you must remember that even with faster broadband internet, how are these servers going to manage to upload & download their data to and from the users.

You play online games right? I bet when you play any online game with a server in your current area or general area, you would ping at roughly 20 - 50ms. The input from your computer is instant because your running the game client side, but behind it all, your player is 20 - 50ms behind that everyone else see's.

Now lets look at Onlive.
OnLive connects you to game servers through the Internet, instantly sending your controller actions upstream and the results back downstream at blinding fast speeds

Again, latency is the issue here.
Lets say you went to play Red Faction on Onlive. You move your thumbstick up to move forward. You are going to detect straight away that there will be a 20 - 50ms delay before you start seeing the player move. It would be hardly noticable, BUT, lets say Millions of customers buy Onlive to try it out. What do you think is going to happen?
The dedicated servers that host your games are going to become overloaded with a lot of people, trying to play games within Onlive, at the same time. This will cause a massive network speed problem as those servers are only going to manage what they are hosted upon. Those servers could be put on a 100mbit Line up and down, but eventually, it is going to get VERY laggy with the amount of people using it.
This will increase your ping from 20 - 50ms to 100 - 200ms+.
The delay will be greatly noticable.

This is why you are seeing alot of negativity coming out about this. Because people already understand how the internet works and they can predict that it is not going to work.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great idea, a lot of thought has gone into it, but not many people can see this going to work. So there will be those who know what it is capable of and will not bother buying the device.

There's me whining about mouse lag *at least I can do something about it* when control lag is going to be stupid . that's like having keyboard lag aswell, imagine trying to shoot and its not firing till 0.5 seconds when you press the trigger or imagine playing a run map and its not jumping at the right time, oh CENSORED lag spikes now your controls sending the wrong button signals . 20-50 ms sounds abit low for steaming high Res video as well as playing online and reading your controls more like 100 ms and that's before its even read your controls.. nah I like my PC over anything. instant playable, no lag.. I like upgrading it because then more hardware is produced so technology advances faster..blah...blah

I'm so negative because I don't see it ever taking off. fair enough it may stop game piracy but it will also stop production of some gaming platforms. and no one will make games for pc. what if you're net dies for a few days or weeks then your CENSORED .. because you can't play anything. only solitaire if your lucky to have a PC.

I just don't like it and that's my opinion. have your positive ones, enlighten me to why or how this Onlive thing will ever work until the whole world is connected by super Lan cables.

But again, video compression is going to be rubbish. People will want to play their games in HD.
