After a little bit of reading it looks like the drivers are the biggest culprit. I guess that makes a lot of sense. DX9 and 10 are completely different and there really is no way to optimize for both. Even on a hardware level this would be a problem. Otherwise why can't everyone run DX10? Don't make me install XP just to prove it OH, and I'm pretty sure your right about DX6 running better in Win98. And since we're in the RF forum here, I can definitely remember a point at which I upgraded my computer and lost performance. Probably about the time that DX9 came out NOTHING BEATS CARS WITH WHEELIE BARS!!!! Vista doesn't really run DX9 at all, it just emulates it. Vista uses DX 9.0L (emulated version) whereas XP uses DX 9.0C.
