Quoting NoClanFrank | Quoting J0HN | I would suggest that ANYONE signing up on another site would use a different password then what they use at L4Y. It is very easy for administrators of other sites to gather user/passwords and take over accounts here. |
I AGREE with you J0HNny boy.
I use to use the same password that I was using here for a few other sites. After what happen here. I went and changed all my passwords. Now there aren't any to alike.
|
the only thing that happened to you here is that you forgot your password |

Quoting Sedo-RF | Quoting molodiets | Garner, don't look at my password! That's private.
That's so humiliating. I feel raped.
OMG. I was relying on you. I trusted you. I thought you wouldn't reveal my intimacy.
What a dishonest site where the admin knows users's passwords! I've never seen that. |
how do u know if it's the trued? |
how do u know if it's the falsed?
Its true you shouldn't take anybody's word for granted ... but that includes goobers as well doesn't it?
... you shouldn't take my word for it either
Quoting goober | Quoting DVL_IAC | How do you know garner stores passwords in plain text? |
Because you can hit the "Forgot Password" button and it sends you your password unencrypted. |
You know its possible that there is a function that just unencrypts a password then sends it to your email ... encrypting things isn't like its making a derivative of the password ( to get the password you would have to integrate it ... but you get the + C which is unknown ... math reference? ... nevermind )
Quoting goober | I do.
Quoting me | Anyone with map suggestions can post here: [Link to thread].
Close this thread please. | |
Must be convienient requesting to close threads like this ...
but seriously, you just need to stop your "passive-aggressive" bashing of L4Y ... its completely transparent ... I honestly don't care if you hate it or if you like it ... but lets cut the crap ... you're still pissed about being removed from staff here ... and this is your subtle way of "Sticking it" to L4Y ...
I don't hate you (infact, i still consider you a friend), or your site ... but it does get on my nerves that you have held the grudge that long and suggest stuff about L4Y and then watch the thread burn ... |

Quoting REDFROG | Quoting goober | That is why if you use your "main" password on L4Y - you might want to change it.
On NebulaMods - I can't go to the DB and read your password. If I really could be bothered to try and crack it, it would only work if it were an easy word like "Fish" or "Lion" or something. Passwords on L4Y are stored in plain text - meaning Garner can go into the DB and read every password. Not saying he does or ever has, he just can.

ok thats worth a TU |
Quote | [22:03] Goober: why did you say my post was "worth a TU"? |
If I call L4Y bad, the administration would do the same to me.
You were staff once, thus you have some deeper knowledge in L4Y.
Now that you are being ex-staff, kicked from the postion, it's not time for a revenge to use that knowledge (or even assumptions) against L4Y.
You make the users extremly afraid when you say that using L4Y is a security risk for them. |

No. It's called a hash. Learn2security. |
"A cryptographic hash function is a transformation that takes an input (or 'message') and returns a fixed-size string, which is called the hash value (sometimes termed a message digest, a digital fingerprint, a digest or a checksum). The ideal hash function has three main properties - it is extremely easy to calculate a hash for any given data, it is extremely difficult or almost impossible in a practical sense to calculate a text that has a given hash, and it is extremely unlikely that two different messages, however close, will have the same hash."
Its a function ...
"It is however, a common misconception that "one-wayness" of a cryptographic hash function means irreversibility of processing of the hash state ..."
Its reversable ...
Cryptographic hash function
Edit: Although you should use different passwords for all sites ... thats just good practice ... not arguing against that ... |

I have no idea where people are getting the insane idea that I'm somehow "mad" about being removed from staff here.
Oh, and I didn't learn about the plain text passwords through L4Y staff, I learned about it by noticing facts. |
