I bet this Red Faction community is bigger then the one on that site. 
Anyway I signed up and posted there cuz I got 2h to kill before my next class. two questions though,
1) how come the site says you need a valid email address when really you don't because the site doesnt actually send any verification email b4 it lets you login..
2) Whats the point of a verification number on the sign up screen if its written in plain text? Isn't the point of those, to stop automated computers from signing up? shouldn't the site be using some sort of CAPTCHA?  |

I would suggest that ANYONE signing up on another site would use a different password then what they use at L4Y. It is very easy for administrators of other sites to gather user/passwords and take over accounts here. |
Yea, especially when Nebulamods encrypts passwords and L4Y stores them in plain text for anyone to find
Oh, and DVL_IAC, the website isn't finished yet, we're still working on it. The verification is only there so most common bots can't register. We are going to have some sort of email verification, it just hasn't been done yet.
Oh, and in response to this:

I wasn't comparing these two site. I'm just saying that the event is being organized at NebulaMods, so everything regarding it should stay in one place. Believe it or not, there are bigger RF communities than L4Y. |

Goober knows everything about Red Faction but he also knows everything about PHP coding and he knows your weakness.
If goober, snipedragon and saber wanted to associate they'll mess up your site, hack the pentagon and mod for RF:G before its release and all that in half an hour. |

Actually I know next to nothing about PHP. I do however know that the passwords on L4Y are stored in plain text. That is why if you use your "main" password on L4Y - you might want to change it.
On NebulaMods - I can't go to the DB and read your password. If I really could be bothered to try and crack it, it would only work if it were an easy word like "Fish" or "Lion" or something. Passwords on L4Y are stored in plain text - meaning Garner can go into the DB and read every password. Not saying he does or ever has, he just can.

Because you can hit the "Forgot Password" button and it sends you your password unencrypted. |

I AGREE with you J0HNny boy. 
I use to use the same password that I was using here for a few other sites. After what happen here. I went and changed all my passwords. Now there aren't any to alike.
