Just to dissolve some rumors that have been going around about what exactally our new "fake server" does... I thought i'd explain.
This fake server is just that - a FAKE server. NOT a real one. It is used to track how many people query our server; hence the tracker. It is used by us to gain accurate stats of how many people acually play our beloved game.

That was run for roughly 6 hours about a week ago. The numbers are small, but i think higher than we all expected.
NOTE: It also goes on to show specific IPs of who pinged our server... but i thought it best not to share other peoples IPs publically.
Digi will be along soon with a picture of the programs interface.

I assume your method of determining unique players is by IP address. Did you use ranges or single addresses to determine the number of unique players? These numbers could be misleading, though, I'd like to believe that many people still play.  |

I believe it outputs into a plain .txt file. Correct me if I'm wrong here Digi or Goober.
But it should be possible for simply creating an HTML page per stat check. Of course, adding FTP abilities to it and auto-overwrite of the said directory's HTML file, then make an CronJob per every... 12hrs?
Just, if it's in your interest to make the stats publically available. |

Yeah - like that. I guess. What happened to rftrends?  Why not display the various RF game server's data and the tracker data on the same site? |

Oh cool stats. Now we...we...know how many people search for servers.
I sometimes use the serverbrowser program only to see what's going on.
Somebody should write a new serverbrowser program because the old ones doesn't work properly and have no filters. |

Now THERE'S an idea! 
I absolutely hate the old server browsers, and making a new one can't be nearly as complicated as some of the stuff that's been done with RF recently, so why not guys? |

digital i doubt thats the unique nr of players cause there are alot of people who need to disconnect from their modem and then connect online again so the IP changes. |

Not many people will do that within 6 hours...
Just thinking about it... Ill set it up running on one of our servers and leave it running for like a month. Ill probably post weekly updates.
PS. We are working on a php page for these stats (Don't worry, your IP's aren't shown, just your countries flag)... It should be up and running relatively soon. |
