I sometimes use the serverbrowser program only to see what's going on.
Somebody should write a new serverbrowser program because the old ones doesn't work properly and have no filters. |
The official Multiplayer server join list works fine, Or at least I thought so.....
But I find this Query Stats Tracker to be a good idea for RF.. Now whenever somebody says " RF only has 10 players online now " ... Well the statistics clearly prove otherwise.. (Somewhere around 250 unique IP's approximately) 
Well good to post here again after such long period of silence on my behalf.. I hope to make further future appearances in the mean time..
Good 1 on creating this tool as It's new things like this which we can always enjoy checking out.  |

Oh not worth the time? But programming some rubbish stats diagnostics is worth the time? |
Ok so something which quite a few people found useful is rubbish when something which currentally only you have asked for isn't? Having said that - That doesn't mean that we aren't going to make a server browser... in fact i would venture a guess to say we probably will. But, the stats are very useful for alot of things, despite your opinion  |

These stats we're taken a short time ago. They're much more promising than before.

For Red Faction, the dying game, I want to see something that actually helps the game.
We are seeing so many threads of how another thing was hacked in RF, but with no use for the players.
There are people who have got the right programs to do something.
Always negative..yeah. At least I'm looking forward of what TrotSkie can present us. Cheating has always been the stick in the eye of Red Faction. |

Frog - Just for your information... Anti-Cheats are NOT all that Red Faction needs. 
Seeing threads about how another thing was hacked for RF with no use for players? Link me to ONE example please.
By the way
I personally think that within the past month - RF has in fact been becoming more alive than it has been for the past few years.

What Red Faction needs :
- a 1-2 GB Memory stick with Red Faction on it
- People with lots of friends who like to game
- People that do no think old games are bad.
I've passed my memory stick to 5 different people . 3 of them daily play RF now.
If everyone does this. we will deffinatly get new people to play. Piracy ? who cares. its an old game.I dont think anyone will be buying it (Except for some RF maniacs ). Some people may dissagree but its the only way to get new people. or uploading it to Megaupload or whatever. but thats even more illegal.
If this post is breaking the rules, please tell me or edit it or delete it.  |

From my experience, the majority of RF players are still on dial-up. If that's true, then the majority of players also have dynamic IP's, not to mention any broadband users with dynamic IP's. Your numbers could be misleading.
Edit: Maybe if you could assess connection speed along with queries you could get a more accurate number.
Edit2: RF is almost to the point of being abandonware... I highly doubt THQ would even bother to pursue known copyright infringements or piracy. |
