I'm in love with my Razer Diamondback.
IDK, it just feels like its perfectly weighted and is really comfortable for me. I was never a fan of the brick mouses |

That's the mouse I use and I highly recommend it. It has eight programmable buttons, three sensitivity levels which can be switched between on-the-fly and a really nice thumb groove. Its USB but comes with a PS/2 adapter if needed. |

I've gone old school...
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/acer-retractable_optical_mouse-mouse_and_keyboard-1-mkb.htm
Its only about 3 inches long so its quite small.. and I'm only using it because it came with my laptop... but I love it.
Its lightweight, got a scroll wheel and 3 buttons.
Certainly humble next to my old MX900 (lovely mouse btw) but I've been playing games with this little thing and I've come to really love it.
Retractable cable is just great as well... just get the cable length you need |

Quoting L4Y Infernus | What an ugly mouse Lace. |
Looks doesnt matter
What I do like, is the ablity to turn the character 180 degrees with a button. Means I can shoot Gen before he stabs my back in JO
And if I don't like it, I can always give it away |

I highly recommend the mouse I'm using now which is the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse... I've not had any problems. |

I myself am currently using the Logitech MX518 too. I have no plans of replacing it, unless it stops working. I AM very happy with it! |

I 've been playing with the same logitech marble mouse since the game began. It is a bit sticky ,but it still works great. Maybe i will get a new one one day as well. It will have to be a marble mouse though, because its all i have ever used. |

It depends on what you want it for. If you want it for gaming, stay away from the Logitech MX518/G5. They are marked as gaming mice, but have a horrible 4ms response time(Basically meaning you'll have better response when you shoot your gun, jump, etc.).
The current best on the market is the Razer DeathAdder. And soon the Razer Lachesis when it's released in November.
I highly recommend either the Deathadder or the Lachesis, and stay away from the Microsoft Sidewinder. The placement for weights disturbs use for lower sensitivity for snipers such as myself, as well as the bulkiness of it that makes it uglier than all hell.
However, if you ARE a sniper like me, you can look into what I got for the 450dpi and 9,000FPS tracking, which cannot be beaten by ANY currently available mouse at 450dpi. Also recommended by a few pro CSS teams that play sponsored in CGI, such as LA Complexity(Complexity), 3D.NY(Team3D), Dallas Venom(EFGaming), etc.
The Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0
I just recommend purchasing from an e-tailer such as NewEgg, etc.
And remember, disable mouse acceleration on Windows. If you want the CPLMouse Fix which disables mouse accel., let me know. Helps your aim to be more consistent |

I see a problem with the Microsoft mouse:
Quote | Precision Booster and Gaming Toggle are software features that are not compatible with Mac OS. |
I wonder if that was intentional. |

How long have you used the Sidewinder, and what games do you use it in? |

I tested it before it was released. I have access to being able to see the latest hardware in action through a friend who reviews hardware for companies. I used it for exactly a 6 days, games played, Quake4, CSS, and Unreal Tournament 2004. I also played Rappelz, an MMO, but as in any MMO, a "gaming mouse" isn't much difference than a $8 cheap mouse, as you don't see the difference as you do in FPS games.
Goober, please take no offense in what I stated, the G5 is still a good mouse, but it is one of Logitech's more troubling of hardware, namely the laser's sensor. But if you have seen the mouse tests comparing the G5 to any other mouse, the G5 is towards the bottom of the list. I mean hell, even the Razer Copperhead topped it.
It's not just through personal use about these mice though, my friend has some kind of machine where the mice are "strapped" down onto a circular board using some special cloth. And it basically tests the mouse like a dyno tests a car. Seeing when it stops responding when moving too fast, etc.
But if you want the current best, the Razer Deathadder cannot be beaten until November when the Razer Lachesis is released that adds more functionality as the newer and improved Deathadder.
I suppose if you're not looking for it though, Goober, that you may not notice the difference when playing games. Plus, the Logitech mouse design will eventually give your hand used Carpal Tunnel, whereas using Microsoft or Razer mice will help reduce that risk with their more lower and less constricted design. The Logitech mice you grasp in your palm to use, the Razer/Microsoft mice you simply lay your hand over without the need for grasping due to their "longer" design I guess you could say. |
