Ok here's the deal. Up until some time last year, having partcially transparent textures on movers was one of RED's geat mysteries. Sometime last year i developed a way of making this work, and that's what this tutorial will teach you.
First of all, set up your brush with a partcially transparent texture on it (could be a default or custom, doesnt matter). Make sure its a detail brush.
Secondly, Make it a mover and if your looking at this advanced topic, you should know how to make a mover.
Thirdly, Build then go into brush mode. Select the entire mover (make sure the entire mover is set as detail before you attempt this). With the entire mover selected, click "Clip" or press X. Place 2 nodes, make sure they go through the mover. Once that is done, press the Cut Brush button. As you can see, nothing visually happened, until you play it in game.
Build, save in multi or single, create a packfile and press F7 to test it in game. As you can see, you now have a transparent texture on a mover working well.
Now, as with most methods, there are some setbacks to using this. For instance, there's no way to make a mover break when you shoot it (life). Usually, you won't be able to see anyone on the other site of the mover. Even with these few setbacks, I'm sure the possibilites that come with this method outweigh the downsides.
Have fun, and happy mapping!
As always, tell me what you think of this tutorial from leaving comments below. |

You cant make air brushes into movers (without an insane amount of bugs anyway...)
Youll need to use the Carve tool to make the *soon-to-be* mover ALL SOLID brushes |

After making your brush that you want to cut into you need to make a second brush the size and shape of the cut you want. Move the second brush into the area where you want the cut to take place, select both brushes and press the carve button. Now just delete the second brush and you're done. |

But when you create the transparent texture mover and then stretch it to 0.20 height, 156 width, 112 depth dimensions and put that mover right over the water and check that collide with player is off in the keyframe properties, Now we can have murky swamps and low rolling fog and mist in our maps. |
Red limits breached?, Yep, (20,000 fces and its still going !) |

What I would like to see is a work around where by you could pan textures on a keyframed brush. if that was possible you could have ya murky swamp water or flowing lava effects way better than the normal water effects. |

properties does. |

So back to my earlier question.
Does anyone know how to either have no player collide to a normal brush/face or pan a texture on a keyframed brush |

I can remember Bart explaining how to make no player collide work on normal brushes... i must try it before i post it to make sure it works though...
Pan textures on keyframes? While that would look cool... i don't know... i'll give it a shot |
