Looks like the newer Graphics card cannot generate Red Faction's graphics, which I find a little silly.
I don't know what you could do to fix the problem, except look around the internet on Nvidia websites, see if there is any patch's for your graphics card to run old game's I guess |

RF is getting too old to be played on the newer GFX cards... happens from time to time with a few games. Each time I retire a PC I never get rid of it because it plays the older games better than the newer PC quite often... especially when a change of OS is involved as well... |

There is no driver that will fix the issue in Red Faction with nVidia's DX10 lineup of 8xxx series cards. |

TSpectre, no no, the 8xxx lineup by nVidia, will NOT play RedFaction. And if you are running WinXP with these cards, you cannot run DirectX 10. You must have Vista to use DirectX 10.
And Ghostkid, no, don't go for a 7800 series card, they were a horrible series that had failure issues. For a good budget gaming card, I'd recommend an nVidia GeForce 7600GT or nVidia GeForce 7900GS. If you can, I'd honestly try for an 8600GTS. (NOT 8600GT) |

The window must be run under DX8 in order to force use of the window'd mode.
And no, that has been tried. It isn't the DX version, it is the gpu architecture, I am almost 100% positive. Either that or the drivers, but I am still pretty sure it's the gpu in some way. |

if your computer has onboard video you could always switch to that to play RF. Sure, it's a bit of a hassle, but you won't need to change any hardware out. |

Thanks for replies. Well, I guess my only hope of ever continuing my AQuest mod is to do it on the laptop...
Which means ill have to transfer 3dsmax junk from desktop to laptop quite often... |

Just a Suggestion for you D2K, You could try build your self a cheap PC with a couple of low graded hardware but enough to run Red Faction, RED and 3Dmax Studio for your work.
Just a suggestion |

The 8600 series is a budget gaming series, so another pc won't be much ^^ |

Here it is guys. Sticky and with reference links in the initial post.
Explore the issues, for instance one thing I noticed - is the graphics card even calling up the correct textures for solids? And then, why would it pattern them out in such an obtuse manner while other surfaces are displayed normally.
Is it a matter of player orientation and location which determines how buggy the issue is? |
I have suffered in real life for the past couple years, now its your turn! |

It apears to get all nearby faces (geometry, or not) and stretch them out according the the camera's rotation and position, and the geometry's position.
I just uploaded a video so everyone could see this in action. (The submarine bay is my favorite part ) |
