From the topic: Red Faction's Great Savior and Destroyer.

Now look at that ... It's starting to form shape . Multi-line server messages (have you seen it before? ), and RedBuster required in order to join the server.
I'm gonna add some nice features. Maybe one that uploads an unofficial map to a player when he doesn't have it?
I just started out this project, so it's in beginning stage. However, it's progressing fast and soon it'll be pissing of every single modder. |

Honestly, we don't need another server assist patch. we need a patch to take care of the.... bugs. |

I think you don't even know what I'm talking about. This is not a server assist.
This is a PunkBuster for RF, with servertool included and special features, which ... believe me, normal tools can't do. Hence the name, 'RedBuster'. |

Sniped, a long while back when you have that ISM server up, you and I were trying to get that server tool set up on my pc. But couldn't due to some software you had on your pc that I didn't. The tool that enabled in-game ranking, showing kills/deaths, how many times you've joined the server, etc. Do you plan on releasing that? As that was probably one of the BEST things I've seen.
Also, Red Buster would be pretty amazing if it could block Click-A-Lot and Myth. |

I lost that code during a reformat of my PC. However RedBuster will have some of these features, and probably even beter ones.
Edit: BTW, i don't see what's so hard about blocking clickalot. Which is actually quite easy (it needs all clients to update their data to join your server however). |

... Simple, LunaTick, go download the RF Patch Switcher, the latest one. You can switch between all versions of Red Faction and not need a CD... No need to use LazyBan just so you don't need a CD
Btw, the Red Faction Server Assist(RFSA) voting options work flawlessly |

Nice SnipedDragon
RF community needs this kind of feature since day one of RF release!
Just in the right time, am accurately looking for an alternative of anti-cheat LazyBan130, because some user experience issue with it (some user are kick’s from server or drastically restart the computer!)

1- I read some old topic related to this and am just curious how your "destroyer" part of this tool can have in wrong hands, if?
2- Is why the majority of the community sadly didn't play custom maps, it will help for sure to keep the RF alive.
3- Does your nice anti-cheat tool will allow clean RF mod!!??
4- And what happen for Myth?

Yes, how about compatibility!!?? And for bonus features, we all want theses, but they can be added by the time to release the essential sooner...

Sobe, it probably required MS .NET framework. Sniped, the utility works great, but how exactally does it work? Does it only check ui.vpp modifications like 1.3? You might want it to check tbl.vpp file modifications and other mods... Mabye even application hacks? |

Well then, send it to Sniped then if you have it, and I'm sure he will block it somehow. Btw, I've yet to see an active wallhack that works for default maps.
And goober, yea, I think it was .NET Framework. |

Ehh, it were those tons of references. And I was too lazy to go search them all, because it were goddamn many. But this tool is using a much more simple method, providing much more stability and trustability.
Don't know why I didn't thought about this before. Anyhow ... Some small details about Red Buster.
Red Buster is supposed to be a bit like PunkBuster.
Red Buster searches for all files that can be modified, and scans the active running proccesses for known cheats like Myth and Aimbots. Red Buster will create a special code from all the files together, and this will be sent to the server via a secure MD5 one way hash (one that is different each time, even if the files are the same). On the server side, the server will do exactly the same on his local files, and it will do exactly the same calculation. Then the code gets compared, when these 2 codes are exactly the same the server will grant access.
For the client side:
In order to join the server, the client needs Red Buster and some adjusted RF files. I will make sure Red Buster will run in the background, only when RF does, and that the user won't even know about it's existance ... unless he tries to log into a server using a mod, that the server isn't running. Or when running suspected trainers/aimbots.
ClickAlot can be solved differently.
I hope this explains a bit what this project is going to be like. |

How will the file verification work? Will it check the files bit by bit? If so, it seems like this could cause massive slowdown on lower powered PC's. Or does the program scan properties (dates, names, etc)? Because it seems that, with some work, that could be spoofed. I'm very interested in this project, seems like a great leap for RF.
Edit: Sobe, all a wallhack would require is the replacement of textures, if I'm not mistaken. |

Bit by Bit? I can assure you that RF does his own checks on certain files when starting up .. byte by byte (no, not bit by bit, that's gonna be a bit slow isn't it? ).
One thing is sure, a 100 Mhz PC with windows 98, does it in less then a second. And I bet most PC's that can actually run RF have quite alot more MHz then that (atleast 400).
I don't know if you ever heard about CRC32? Well kinda like that, but with my own secure protocol. Which I will not reveal, just to tease those crackers. God, I love giving people headaches. |
