Ive recentally been tipped off by a number of friends as to an impersonator who is saying he is me.
heres a screenshot of my chat log when he left:
I have a couple of request, if you could help me, that would be great!
First, server hosts:
If he joins your server, get me his IP. If your a server host, PM me for my IP address so youll know if its the real me or not.
Regular Players:
Just do whatever you can to make his life a living hell 
If its the real me, ill say this word: Artichokes
(dont ask, its just not a word that people say everyday )
Please help me, nothing makes me more mad than when this happens, and when i joined he said "your the one impersonating me", that just REALLY got me mad.

out of the odd millions of people who play this game... Cant make their own damn name  . I think I was the first person to be called $p!key on Red Faction when it came out, now others gone and nicked it!!!
So i reverted to Spikey2006... so that MANY know its me!

Well, judging from what I have seen in the past you seem to make enemies and are prone to piss people off. Some of these habbits I have noticed piss these people off is:
A. You start and join every project you see that needs help knowing you wont have any time to dedicate from the other thousand projects your 'involved' in.
B. You don't finish at least 33% of the projects you start.
C. It looks like you have less concern for the team and its activities and more concern about your details in its credits.
D. Sometimes you don't pick words wisely when your dealing with a delicate situiation.
E. Misunderstandings and overreactions (sometimes).
My advice? Practice and focus in one area and keep it that way until you are personally satisfied and impressed with your work. If you keep trying to do everything at once you won't get anywhere and just produce a bunch of crap. Also you should spend more time trying your best in a team rather than preforming mediocre quality work.
Your work will only come out as good as the amount of effort you put into it.
Work on communication skills. There are alot of noobs out there who will take something that was seemingley harmless and get a thorn up their censored.
Well at any rate theres always going to be that one person that has to be a shmuck and take a conflict to a whole new level...  However you can prevent things like this from happening by going out of your way to double check your actions. 
I know im a smartass all the time but w/e if you arent laughin you arent living. |

Seriously, get over it. It's just a name, it's just the internet, there's no need to start this huge topic about it and try and get the community behind you to stop this travesty!
Edit: Just wanted to add in that with the whole Artichokes thing, if he reads this, it's completely useless...And it's quite likely he does if he knows you.  |

Very much agreed. As long as people know whom the real you is and they know how you act then it shouldn't be that large of a deal. I had some punk about a year back trying to "ruin" (in his own words) my name in RF. At first I was distressed but then I thought about it. What harm could he really do that I couldn't repair later. Not only that but it's a damned game, your rep in a video game is the equivalent of the amount of grains in a handful of salt, nobody really cares!
Just get over it is all I can say as of this point. Unless it gets to the point where the guy is getting you banned from servers (which still isn't that big of a deal if you explain the situation) it's nothing to give a crap about. |

im quite sure (but i guess its possible) because he spelt it the exact same way as me, ive seen GOOBER, GOOBERS, goobeRZ, GOOFYGOOBER, but never another "Goober".

I've had people use the same name as me before. and you know what I did? ...absolutely nothing.  but do you get pissed off at him just for the plain fact that he is using the same name as you? or is he actually talking CENSORED ? but for one thing...who gives a damn? I mean what do you expect us to do about it? find out where he lives and beat the CENSORED out of him? |

Yep, you didn't submit a copyright request to the government, you dont own the rights to the name, simple as that, no ligitimate argument.
If "whoever" is modding/being an aZZhole under your name, his IP will be banned from the servers, not yours...
...Not the first time its happened, certainly not the last..in fact...
...take it as a complement that someone is SO infactuated with you, they would go out of their way(waste time) trying to be you.
Ask NCF, same sh|t happened to him, give it time, they die out... |

It's happen to me but like I tell anybody who has brought it up to my attention. If it's your server or you have rcon on the server. Go ahead and Lazy Ban his butt of the face of Red Faction Planet. If the person is cheating, then 99.9999999999999999999999999999999919 percent of the time it means it's not me.  |
