Theres a marswars topic in the UT forum, but beware that the first 25 pages, are leading up... ideas that we had along the way that may or may not be used, check marswars.net.tc for updates news, when its finished, but for now you can check the last few pages of the MW topic, youll get a description of the mod in the CDC

Theirs a car Mod it is the closest thing ull have to a car for multi and qite funny

VBMs are much much smaller than TGAs. And having one VBM instead of 3 TGAs is even smaller because each tga needs some extra space.

But I think that Red Faction will always search for VBMs first. But I'm not sure how RF would handle the mipmaps..
I've only done it with custom models which use new texture names. But you should give it a try because it saves space. (oh well, as long as you're not making a lot of skins use TGAs instead)

I think (I can't remember it exactly) mipmap textures don't show up on lower detailed meshes only. Even if the model had no LODs, mipmap textures would be used. The mipmap distance is hardcoded. But not the LOD distance for the mesh. (it can be set in the entities.tbl for each character). So mipmaps and LODs are two different things.
(mipmaps fade into the smaller ones, use a purple mipmap texture to test it)

If I'm not mistaken, all texture map files are in the "maps.vpp" archives. Check the entity in the "entities.tbl" file for the map name of the entity you want to change, then look it up in the various "maps.vpp" archives. They won't all be in one, you have to go through all four to get all the files you need. (Or you could take the quicker, easier way and skip the mipmaps.)

yip assman basicly got it all...maps 1-4 (*.vpp) are for reskining Stuff etc...and mapsen.vpp are for the decals etc

Good Luck with you'r Quake 4 mod Cant wait to see i was goin to make a Quake 3 mod For redfaction but im not good with 3ds-max
But i was able to make a few levels but they are to similar to Other RedFaction Quake maps so i just left it there.....Untill i started doin resking of the DM-01 (every thing inculding Decals -Note Isnt The Lobby Map i have Submited on here)

And i think asp_prec dosnt have a clue wot we are on about those Map.vpp files lol

gud idea, but we can't always ask REDFROG to make us all weapons RedFrog is a busy person and i bet Redfrog does have a Life outside Redfaction

REDFROG has a life!? Impossible, I say!

He has been pretty busy lately, though. I think I'd rather see that RF mod for UT2004 finished before he starts another mod.

yer it would be funny if life was a game but it isnt u only get 1 life ( or 9 if a cat )

hmmm...Ive never seen a cat been hit, ive seen my cats both sitting in the middle of a road b4 but never seen them get hit
but it would be funny watching a cat get up like a zombie and asying "BRAINS!" and cashing you

Heres somthing fun to do if u have a cat, during the night have a camera with flash and take a photo of you'r cat, makes ur cat look evil
