As I've said, the best brands are Samsung, OCZ, and Corsair(XMS Series).

However, these won't be cheap. I myself have a single stick of Kingston Premium RAM which works fine. Crucial technologies is another good choice.

Which is best? The depends, how are you judging them? Price, quality, performance? You have to be more specific about what you're going to be doing with it. Casual gaming and general use is my guess. If that's the case then you won't really notice a difference between high performance RAM and the bargain brand.

Just find an ammount of memory you want, match the speed to your motherboard (for best results) and look for the best deal.

The only time you will notice is when you do a bench mark test. Most of the time you won't even notice, except maybe when you are loading a new level. Not in RF, RF ownes RAM. RF requires very little of it. I wished that all games were like that. I now currently have 2Gigs of 400 DDR ram and I don't notice any thing faster than when I had only 1Gig.

I noticed a huge diference when i upgraded to 1 gig from 512 in all games. especialy in UT2004. it made my computer so much more smoother when hostng in all games. that was the bigest improvment.

going to have 2 gigs of dual DDRII 800 in my AMD power house at the end of this year ready for UT2007
AMD coming out with a new socket in may (next month) for DDRII suport.

Anything over 1GB doesn't really make a difference in performance with today's software. 2GB is nice, but I doubt anyone uses their full 1GB at any one time. An extra Gig isn't necessary... yet.

Ah I see, when I run a server, it's usually ran on a seperate PC amd probably the reason I haven't noticed a difference.
The only reason I upgraded to 2Gigs was for PhotoShop, in case I had it on for too long, which I haven't yet. In fact I hardly know how to use it. I only use it to make screen shot for files that got submitted without them.

Image editing programs don't rely much on RAM. If you want to buy hardware for Photoshop buy yourself a dual-core Intel CPU, that's the kinda thing they're made for.

.. It's called DDR SDRAM....

Of course, there used to be just SDRAM, etc. But now we have DDR SDRAM.

I wish garner had a dime everytime sophie said "lol" then he wouldn't have anymore money problems.

I currently have 256MB or RAM but need an upgrade, I just don't currently have the cash for it.
