To all you map makers who want to have a bit of fun????
Create a box of 20 20 20 now inside that box create a map however you like and on what ever theme you like BUT DO NOT PLACE any weapons or health etc etc just ya usual lights and movers etc also this map must have two exits anywhere you like >and if possible use a texture in your room saying for example Vibes room or Mad ferrits room etc what ever your name is< then submitt your room/map to this site marked fun map comp >your name<.

The best maps/rooms will then be placed into 1 overall map by myself with weapons etc added and resubitted to this site with credits given to what ever maps/rooms were used........again this is for fun

If those parts of a map are submitted here, That means that people will be able to download and rate them. They could get desapointed when they'll realize these are only parts of a map.

IMO, that would be better to submit them to another ftp server, rather than poluting l4y's space with bits of maps.

I would also suggest you might ask mappers if they really want to be part of the project before making a map they'll have to finish. As far as i know Ferrit has never been a part of a collective map. Not sure he would like his name to be associated with a map he has only partially made, especially if YOU gather the chunks and decide what other mappers will be part of the project.

Now if you take my suggestions into account, you get DM-Redtech 1 and 2.

Overall I think the idea is good, but it seems too vague to work properly. If we put the exits wherever we want then it seems we'd have some major issues piecing it together... There needs to be some other limits in place; I mean what if one person submits something that nearly reaches RED's limits alone!? Also, I really don't think it's fair (even if it was your idea) having one person decide what's good enough to be included and what's not. Perhaps a vote on which maps should be included based on screenshots? Anyways, sounds like fun and if you can get some of these things set straight I'd be willing to submit something.

You guys are giving Vibes to hard of a time. It seems like a project of his and anyone that is interested can and should do it. He is a good mapper so I'm sure he will know what is good and what is not. Also since this is his project I don’t see why someone else should be in charge of it. Those limits are probably the only issue.

I'm all for Vibes' idea, I just think a few things need to be straightened out. As for it being his project... It's completely Vibes' idea, but it'd be all of the mappers' project as well, wouldn't it?

If you use Windows (and I know you do, Goober) you have no right to complain. Now let's stay on topic rather than starting a flame war. Now I'm just waiting for Vibes to set some standards so I can start mapping.

I believe it's paid accounts that get the extra storage. But I really don't think email is the best way to submit maps. Perhaps NCF can get some temporary storage on L4Y until the project is over?

I would be for it but it's too vauge ... you need exit door size descriptions(like dimension) make sure no one is using a skybox (seems unfair that one person gets it and no one else. And where to place them

here's an idea vibes ... make four exits for each room, and connect them like tiles on a floor. you can create a template room in which we can build in

If a person creates 2 exits the map would get way too linear

This sounds like some sort of RFU project ...

[yellow]Note: I had an idea for a square map ... might be my chance to try it out .

I think having a template is a great idea. Now that I think about it, it seems like the only way it'll work well.
