Thanks man, I need all the encouragement I can get!!! I'm doing it Cold Turkey and I'm almost through a working week, not somthing I ever thought I'd be capable of doing!!!
How will I ever map again without my "herbal" cigarettes?  |

LOL no I'm not playing from the moon. It's just that when I go to other servers hosted on dial up, my ping will vary from 700 to 2357. And yes 2357 is the highest it has gotten.  |

I get a ping of 180- 250 in swiftgames on 31.2k dial up (8km from the exchange) my friend gets a ping of 80-140 to swiftgames and he is on 48.8k dial up. that bloody amazing for dial up. may I add we are on the same exchange but he is a lot closer. |

I struggled for years on dial-up at 16.4 kbps but I did one simple thing and it sky-rocketted to a consistent 50.6kbps!
Basically one of the phones in my house was causing interference on the line and stealing my extra few kpbs. If your dial up isn't connecting very high try unplugging everything you have connected into a phone socket - telephones, faxes, sky TV, etc. and then try to dial up again. If your speed has increased then you know you have a faulty piece of equipment that's stealing your fun, it's just a process of elimination to find out which one it is!

We (me and my parents) have two phone lines. one meant specifically for the internet, the other for telephone service. I don't think anything is getting shared by the internet phone line, unless my house has been tapped by the FBI or something. |

on a real real bad day mine is 31.2k and on a real good day it 31.2k.
all things unpuged 31.2k. new modem 31.2k new sockets and wiring under the house still= 31.2k. 31.2k is the only speed i ever see but thats good coz people closer to the exchange are geting 24k and goes up and down all the time, and mine it 31.2k. thats the physical maxed out speed my line can do. i cant get adsl or ant thing. i cant get any faster coz australian copper lines are of bad quality. adsl speed is 1.5mbit max at a distance of 4k and they wont conect u if u are more then 4k's  |
