Sobe Consoles have a completely different architecture to PCs and work in completely different ways to a PC ... the closest is the Xbox as this was microsoft's (Predominatly(?) PC) first step into consoles so they based it on what they mostly knew. The new Xbox has been built from a more console oriented direction and is quite different from a PC, Consoles are made for games and multimedia, PC's are made for games and applications and multimedia and a whole host of other things so basically they are simialr but they are completly different.
Kaneofdoom If your a fan of the revolution just say that rather than saying the other suck ... i too will be getting a revolution before any of the others (if i get any of the others) as the controller seems like a great deal of FUN which is what i look for in a console.
Hellboy666 Speed doesnt matter on a console, what matters is the games and how fun they are ... unless of course you are a GFX WH0RE
Sobe againThe Revolution will be internet ready out of the box, how else are you going to buy the nintendo back catalouge?
ModMaker91 Please dont tell me your talking about Blu-Ray ... it is just a Disc that can hold much more information on it (something like 45Gb i think ... idk to lazy to look for the actual specs) same as the Xbox360 will be using HD-DVD's which holds more than a DualLayer DVD and less then a blu-ray disc but will have faster access speeds.
Sobe again Sorry didnt read your post before i wrote what was above ... and is sony also going HD-DVD? hadnt heard that before thats interesting
katherineFrom your profile it says you are in austrlia ... i didnt think Mcdonalds had Wi-Fi spots in Australia. I know (some)Electronics Boutiques have them ... k here is a list of aussie hotspots http://www.nintendo.com.au/wifi/hotspots.html
Also do you know that you can order a Wi-Fi USB connector from Nintendo Australia which allows you to play online from your home computer (I got 1 and couldnt be happier ) as long as you have Broadband and Windows XP. It would be a smart investment if you are planning on getting a revolution aswell as it will be using the same device to connect to the internet

Yes, but consoles are basically pcs, and with the XBOX you can install Linux on it.
YES - You can run Linux on your Xbox!
YES - You can do it without a modchip!
YES - You can do it without opening your Xbox!
The Xbox is a legacy-free PC by Microsoft that consists of an Intel Celeron 733 MHz CPU, an nVidia GeForce 3MX, 64 MB of RAM, a 8/10 GB hard disk, a DVD drive and 10/100 Ethernet. As on every PC, you can run Linux on it.
An Xbox with Linux can be a full desktop computer with mouse and keyboard, a web/email box connected to TV, a server or router or a node in a cluster. You can either dual-boot or use Linux only; in the latter case, you can replace both IDE devices. And yes, you can connect the Xbox to a VGA monitor.
Anyway, I believe you can run Linux on PS2 as well.
And what I mean by consoles being the same as pcs, is that they are basically working under the same principles, except that consoles are more like emulators, emulators with a cd drive that reads "rom" files from cds such as PS2 games, etc. |

Yes thats why i said xbox's are the most similar ... and im also not talking about the similarity in hardware but actually how the hardware is that much different from PCs, they are made completly differently from any desktop hardware. Thats why you cant just put in a Linux install disc and away you go, You need an xbox specific one (to do without modding the Xbox) because it needs to be compiled differently from a regular PC version.
And as i said the xbox is the most similar because it was Microsofts first effort in the console business and they wanted to keep their hardware close to home. |

And i was saying thats fine ... just as long as you dont bad mouth the others just because your not going to get one.
I also am a strong nintendo fan but am able to see the strenghts of the other consoles aswell, none of these consoles will "Suck" unless they get no 3rd party support |

I agree with LordSeafood on that, and I love Nintendo man. I still have my Super Nintendo out right now in front of my tv with the Super Mario World cartridge in it! lol
But Nintendo representatives already said that the Nintendo Revolution would NOT be competing with the XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3.
Anyway, I look forward to the Revolution and PS3 |

Nintendo isn't competing with X-Box 360 or the PS3? Its like rating yourself calling yourself a god compared to nothing else! That is a statement there...just giving up on competition...... |

I hate to bring up an old thread, but some new information has come into light that may influence this arguement.
The first is this:
| Quoting sobe | | Yes, but consoles are basically pcs, and with the XBOX you can install Linux on it. |
| Quoting Official PlayStation 2 Magazine Australia | | [Ken] Kutaragi also stated that the [PS3] harddrive will suppport a Linux OS and can be used as a home server. |
The second is the new name for the Revolution: The Wii.
Looks like the lead Microsoft got with it's earlier release may not be enough. Nintendo now has it's art-sy appeal, and Sony has the backing of Linux. |

In my spare time I like to write game reviews for Game Revolution. |

well, just for the sake of argument, I recently got an xbox 360 and I love it. Although, a bad thing about it is that it says on the packaging that it comes with a free month of xbox live, or something like that (too lazy to actually go look at what it says ) but it really doesn't. That makes me somewhat annoyed, because I was going to buy an xbox live subscription to go with it, until the salesperson pointed out that on the box it says that it comes with xbox live. So I didn't buy the xbox live subscription, and by the time I found out that it really doesn't come with xbox live, I had no more money. |

Hey, how big is the harddrive in the X-pox 360 anyway? From what I hear, it's 20gb.
Because, apparently the PS3 comes standard with a 60gb removable harddrive. |

*rolls eyes* What a bunch of fan-people, no console sucks, they all have their strenths and weaknesses. If I had the money I'd buy all 3 of them, and you people call your selves gamers? Pathetic. |
