I'm a little off topic on this one but, I think a good bullet time song would be "Attitude" by the Misfits.

Hope you don't mind if i post a question here, instead of starting a whole new thread, but it is relevent.
I was wondering if it was possible to code a loop into whatever scripting controls bullet time, thereby making the hourglass refill as soon as it empties but without having to stop and start slowmotion. I know the command to refill the hourglass from the console, but it being automatioc would be great.

Also, if it were possible, the speed of bullet time should be slowed down to the minimum possible in "developer keys" mode, or better yet, have it gradually decrease in speed the longer you stay in bullet time, or even better yet, have an rpg element which would permenantly decrease the speed of bullet time the more something or others you did, as opposed to my second idea which would reset the speed of bullet time when it was switched off.

Little things like these make a difference, we wouldn't have big things without the little things.

An instruments only version of "You think I ain't worth a dollar, but I feel like a Millionaire" by queens of the stone age. The lyrics don't quite work, but the drums and guitar are perfect for actiony bullet time battles. And you should probably have multiple songs, cause one song would get pretty repetitive. Probably why BT music wasn't included in the first place. A MGS style adaptive soundtrack would be best. Player control causes problems, that's why scripted music only truly works in films and other predictable mediums. But I'm just thinking out loud, here.

You can't do that. It's hardcoded to work the way it does. You can make it instantly refill as soon as you turn it off, but that's about it.

Slowing the bullettime down to the minimum amount possible would cause to many animation problems. If you set it lower then 0.1 using dual weapons of any kind would be a waste because only the gun in your right hand would fire. Slowing down bullettime to much causes these errors if you haven't already tweaked the animations to work with your bullettime settings. I've seen countless mods set there bullettime too low and they had this problem but they never realized it until I said soemthing about it. Cinema for example has this problem when using some of the weapons not because of the bullettime, but because they set the firerate for some of the weapons to high and so when they enter bullettime with dual weapons only one will fire. It all works together and if you don't know what you're doing you'll run into all kinds of problems. The lowest that bullettime should be set to is 0.1. This setting works with all of the original weapons in MP2. It won't cause any problems at all. If you are using a single weapon, 0.01 is probably as low as you'd want to go because most of the time, only the bullet, bullet casing, particle effects, and sound occur. The animation for the gun more then likely will not but at least you can still shoot people.

Bullettime does decrease in speed over time as long as you're killing people. But that's it. That's about the only thing that you stated that you wanted to see that will actually work. Everything else that you want is not possible.

Misfits? Queens of the Stone Age? Do you guys actually consider these bands to be hard? Do you really think that their music is perfect for "actiony bullettime battles"? Because they're definitely not. Calibur, you even stated that the vocals don't fit the game. Why use it then? If you're gonna use some music with drums and guitars that actually tear it up, use some Death Metal or some Death Thrash Metal. I used a lot of music from Morbid Angel's Heretic and from Slayer's God Hates Us All albums in my mod and man oh man did it add some adrenaline to the game. Nothing beats their drums, guitars, and vocals when it comes to whipping @ss with guns and music on the side. Nothing! I don't know if you listen to that kind of music, but I guarantee you that if you use it you won't be disappointed. I guarantee it. A big plus for using this kind of music for this purpose is that it never lets down. It constantly keeps thrashing forward which is good because when you're fighting in bullettime there is always some bad@ss guitar or drum part that keeps the adrenaline flowing. You won't get that slow cr@p while doing battle like you would if you were using some alternative metal or some kind of punk rock. It's endless agression which is perfect for MP2. Just please don't use cr@p music like in Cinema. That bullettime music didn't add any kind of aggression whatsoever to the game. It just dumbed it down.

Hard?!? Hard, you say. Hmm... yes, well, I would prefer good as opposed to hard. What does that even mean? Hard? The only thing that is measurable is quality, hard is an opinion.

Besides, look at the Matrix lobby scene, I bet Powerman 5000 blew a few of his amps, eh? Christ...

Anyway, with regards to my idea, read again, did you see? I stated "developerkeys". Slowing down time using the keys in that mode, does not have any effect on animation, at least not to my eyes.

Sorry VG... for not experiencing a mid-life crisis, buying some electric guitars and starting a band in my garage, with the volume turned all the way up just to spite those invisible fascists who are forcing me to grow old.

Now I would like for you to say touche, and for us to move on.

What I meant by hard is that Death Thrash Metal never let's down. The guitars and drums are constantly moving at a high rate with excessive amounts of volume. They conistently pound your ears while igniting charge after charge of adrenaline. Sure Powerman 5000 may have blown an amp or too, but they still aren't hard or hardcore. They can't play half as good as most Death Metal bands and they're music is so so. It lets down to much. That's all I'm saying. Adrenaline is what is needed for a gunbattle to rattle you. And Death Metal delivers.

And what do you mean by "not having a midlife crisis"? Are you trying to say that only older people listen to Death Metal, because if you do, you're gonna need to open up a little and understand that people your age don't just listen to what you listen to. I'm only 22 years old. I'm not having a mid life crisis. I'm freaking happy with my life and I'm still progressing getting closer and closer to finishing up school to get a job making real games of my own. I love Death Metal and Trash Metal because it takes alot to make that kind of music. A lot of talent and patience. Those bands give it their all every time they play. Not for money, but for Death Metal itself. I respect that more then anything about them. Powerman 5000 or any other Alternative Hard Rock/Metal wannabes are in it for the money. They've strayed so far from what they said they were when they started and that's just sad. That's why I don't listen to that crap anymore. Death Metal bands and Metal bands in general stay true to what they are and what made them them when they started. If they don't, then they're probably like Metallica, in it for the money.

Sorry about this off topic crap. I'm done.

Move or delete these posts if you want, but i feel i must reply.

To VG:

You wouldn't let it lie, would you?

Which is unfortunate because you seem to have missed my point.

My point was (or was meant to be) that you don't neccessarily need the type of music you describe. Juxtaposing opposites can be just as effective. For example, having orchestral or similar style music (powerful, grand) backing an action scene can achieve the same effect as rapid, pounding music.

Powerman 5000 - I was being ironic. You may have heard of a little known film called the matrix, well there is a small scene in a lobby, and there was some music as well. But it didn't blow amps, because it didn't need to. If you would put death thrash metal with that scene, then i would libb you. Just look at the second last action scene in Equilibrium (when preston takes on 50 sweepers) to see how a bad musical choice can effect what is otherwise a perfect scene.

I was never once commenting on the morals or motivation of bands, they could throw small children off tall buildings, all that matters is how good their music is. I'm sure death thrash metal bands are dedicated and talented, but that is irrelevant. I was commenting on how apt certain music is for action scenes. You are entitled to an opinion, but you are not entitled to disqualify others opinions because you think you know better or think yours is more valid.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Merry Christmas.

Oh, and don't forget to wish me a happy birthday. I'll be 17 on New Years Eve.

Guys, do you remember the "Doom Alpha demo" released for MP1???? (I think it was done by the Joke_r), the mod features the first two maps of Doom 1 as well as the original Marine model, the lovely Chainsaw, Doom textures, etc...
Now, it would be nice to see this mod ported to MP2 (the maps could be now DMW).
The mod is available at Filefront.com:
