And i live in Asia so that means i have cheap and fast internet connection.I tested it by downloading the Star Wars mod and it took like 45 minutes only.Then i deleted it coz it sucks up to much HD space.
I just checked the firewall and its just normal and not set up to block anything except pop-ups.
Bytes sent=664,449
recieved=3,173,372[It keeps getting higher]
Yeah i think the problem is my crappy pc.It just sucks.It even [This is sooooo embarassing] lags on some levels of HL[Not Source,Just normal HL]
Problem solve.I must upgrade the crappy pc. |

See, this is why Canada must die. We're a semi-spiffy nation where you'd think that we'd get some nice broadband. Nope, our fastest is 700kbps and costs nearly 70 usd a month.
I know of some friends who have DSL (the kind Pred told me he got) and it does have some problems with games, although not enough to act worse than dialup.
As far as them thar Asian folks go with their high-speed Internet, Pred's right, it is cheap. Thanks to my spiffy skizzles with currency conversions, I've figured out that the 71 MU that Pred pays per month = roughly 18 usd per month. The rough exchange rate for a MU to USD is roughly a quarter on the MU (.264), for those Interested. Conviniently (and so as to not make an Censored out of myself, I looked on one of them thar exchange rate sites and found I was correct (that's where I got the .264 at by the way) in my estimate.
Anyway, S Korea does have a nice 100 MBps connection, and Japan has something like 200 Mbps they're rolling out within 2010. Why isn't this stuff (or a reasonably close equivalent) in the West? Aside from political reasons, we've the fact that folks out East (well, west to me) need all this speed to compete globally. Meanwhile, the US and Canada doesn't need this apparantly, so we've got dialup and 128k "DSL" as our main connections (they actually had the nerve to tell me 128k was broadband down at the phone company. Its ISDN, nothing else. Stupid phone compnay).
Anyway, congradulations Pred, enjoy your broadband. As far as your connection problems go, where's the server at? Perhaps you were online when a lot of other people were (middle of the day is murder on broadband, can cut any connection down to next to nothing. Sure, it'll still say connected at 1Mbps, but with the server-side lag at your local ISP, it'll act like 1kbps). Just try again late at night or early morning and check it then. Other than that, it might be your PC, like everyone else suggested. |

but i get 2mb adsl for £20 a month with absolutely no stupid limits and speed caps
I pay extra (£5 more) to have a static ip addy though. If this doesnt matter to you then its 20 notes including the VAT.

on another subject pred, what is the star wars mod. if its that "star wars beta" thing... that took me about 8 mins to download. and my net is much much much much slower than u say urs is.

Wow ... who are you with, telstra?
you can get from exetel
1500/256 for $60AUS
or
512/512 for $60AUS
or
512/128 for $40AUS
I currently have 256/64 (please dont laugh ) and am paying $45AUS and as soon as the contract runs out i will be changing to somethign a little better  |

I was just thinking....with 100mbs connection you should be able to download the entire contents of L4Y  If your talking about the same Star Wars Mod I just looked at, It's 74M. By doing the math, 74/100=.74 That means, with a 100M connection you should be downloading the entire Star Wars Mod in less then 1 second. In fact, in the description it states that it should take 12 minute at 56k. I'm thinking you have a 9600 baud connection and not a 100M connection.  |

Hey i said dont laugh and i agree it is to slow for my liking but i was locked into a 12 month contract ... so as soon as that ends i will be getting faster (more than likely 1.5 or 512/512) |
