Ive always wondered if there was any way to make an escalator Ive tried the texture scroll rate, but that usually works for conveyer belts, any ideas? do I have to do something with a keyframe? |

the scroll rate i think would be your best bet, i think i could make a escalater, would be VERY hard to make with some BUGS though |

Yeah but if I use the scroll rate then only the textures would move, I need the whole thing to move |

*Sigh* Unfortunatly I think the anwser is yes. Could prove to be quite the nightmare(esp with Buggy/Crashy RED). Although, never say never.
P.S. Are you trying to apply this method with this
set of stairs?

No, not with that one then that would be way too tough lol, just a normal straight staircase |

I've done this in a VFX file.
It may be possible with keyframes..but that'd take a lot of time.
If its needed for a mod or sp map (that runs with a mod) I could help. |

A real working escalator? It's a challenge but I reckon it's quite possible... |

This is juat experimentel and i aint good at movers but why not just make the long brush like a conveyer belt and then make it extrude? And put 2 keyframes.Maybe it,ll work but 99% not maybe. |

Perhaps even 100% not maybe
You need to create something like this...

Obviously this (quick) diagram only shows one of the stairs moving round the escalator, but if you can achieve this in a loop infinite fashion then you can easily add another 15 or so. That's the only way I can see of doing things. |

I think you could make it without keyframes, simply use a push region with the mass independant and grounded flags checeked, set the power to about 5.
also using a scrolling texture would make it look better... so why use all these keyframes if you can create the same effect with this time and effort? |

Yeah that's fair enough, that's the simplest way to attack it... BUT He actually wanted to create real moving stairs, just like an escalator
I've just given it a try and it certainly isn't as easy as it looks... it's also quite prone to killing you |

yeah mysterisly, you would need 2 sets of stairs so that when one is going thorugh the other one is behind so that you never have a time where theres no stairs... it would take about 40 movers just for 1 escalator.. |

Ive tried the texture scroll rate all ready, but when I do that only the textures move and the stairs themselves dont Man, this sounds alot more complicated than I thought it would be
Maybe what you could do is make a bunch of wedges for the steps of the stairs and make them move at once when you push a switch, I dunno just a thought |
