ok i understand about the faster thing, although all this with what weve got is pretty impossible although fiddling around with VFX's might help as REDFROG and D2K explained.
I wouldn't say the escalators in RED (not 3ds Max) isn't an impossibility... I would also say that it's gonna require one hell of a lot of messing around... some insanely ridiculous tinkering with keyframes and triggers n the such but it is possible.
Getting it working perfectly as RL escalators do just means that you've got your work cut out even further. The timing is gonna have to be 1 million % perfect, then you may have to take into consideration server lag (depending on how the keyframes are set up) It's a bloody nightmare!!! Is it honestly worth it unless you had a Micro map based around an escalator? somethin where the gameplay might be enhanced rather than just a detail effect... I dunno...
why dont you just make a normal stairs or an elevator ???
I dont think all this is for a level, its for experimenting so if anyone finds a solution then someone could slap up a tutorial so then we could all have escualtors!

I started one for you, but it is not stairs. Well I have never seen a stair escalator. This is your everyday run of the mill escalator.
You will need to use Goobers transparent movers technique for the face brushes to get it working right. You may also have to play with the end keyframes to get the player off it, in the case the player is just standing on it and not running.
If I ever get to where I am going, will I know when I am there?
