To whoever asked if they can preview his maps: no need to. He sent me a copy to fix up, and they pwn everyone here except RedFrog, MF, D2K (and whoever he worked with on RedSucks), and maybe NCF. He has potential and whenever he releases his maps, it will pwn all of you and re-write RF's SP history. Either that or you'll all call him a n00b and won't download a single map of his. You'd be missing out though.
His only problem is that he over-refines his brushes. Everyone knows of the system lag the Reallistic Terrain tutorial taught us all. Multiply that x 100 and you'll have his hyper-realistic brushes. However, the cost is probably too much for computers (that IMHO shouldnt' be used anymore when a Dell will cost you 400 usd for a cheap 2.8 GHz P4 with 256 MB Ram, 80 GB HD, video card, sound card, and speakers. Sad thing is its almost as good as my 2000 usd computer that I bought 2 years ago :'( Dell pwnz all in their low-cost, high-quality computers) lower than 1.6 GHz.
So, follow my parenthetical (enclosed in parenthasis) suggestion and buy a Dell. They even have a payment plan, so anyone with a job that gives them 10 usd more than they use per week (you know you should cut back on the Super Slurpee every night after work anyway) could easily afford the monthly payments (for my example it came out to be 20 usd per month, paid over their standard 36 months payment plan). Now, you don't have an excuse to not play his maps. |

I listed MF. I haven't reviewed any of your work, n(g )oob.
Also, didn't hear of anyone back in "the day". Maybe the fact that the people you mentioned haven't uploaded anything in years made me realize that they stopped mapping. Whenever I list something, I always use current, active events, like active mappers, active news, etc. If they'd start mapping, or maybe just releasing the stuff they haven't released (we all know the saying, what you get is only 1% of what they made). Then I'd count them. |

If you must know, it was because you acted as though I'm supposed to search through the archives to find the best maps of everyone. If you want to draw my attention to a level, post it here, however kindly follow these rules (as I'm on dialup):
Nothing over a MB or 2
Nothing with custom textures (as anyone can use them, but can you skillfully use the defaults to create the same effect?)
No lewd, crude, offensive, pornographic, suggestive, material.
Nothing that deals with substance abuse
Nothing with swearing in it
I'd prefer SP maps, as this is the basis of this thread (and also because they're more in-depth levels). Also, limit your list to 10 or so maps, as we don't need more than that, its really just obscene.
Follow these rules, and I should be able to (with time) review them all.
Finally, I apologize. A n00b like me can't go about pleasing everyone, Mr. Goober. |

well.... i havent made any SP levels yet, as i am trying to get more in-depth into RED-ed before i start makeing them so i can make good ones insted of start out bad, give people a bad inpresion and make them not download my good ones

Firstly, theres no reason not to release a map as long as it is more than a box!. Of course releasing a map will get you feedback (hopefully anyway  ) so it can only be good!
Secondly, to vidi44, with all your requirements (particularly the no custom textures one) i do have one map of my own that meets them (except the SP part)

To Goober: I didn't say just your maps, you could have released maps from other people you know.
To Stalin: I requested SP maps, however I'll review your MP maps (although they'll be last).
Back to Goober: If you're 13, then why are you playing RF? Its a Mature game, and you're barely a Teen. Still, who listens to the ratings? Funny thing is that PC Magazine actually wrote that 70% of parents consider them as just decorative, and have no meaning to the content of the game. So, I suppose you could trick your mommy into letting you buy Doom3 for your birthday or somehing.
Also, read what I wrote to Stalin. Still, I'll review your maps, however last, if any SP maps ever do appear here.
Insofar as the swearing and that, I knew of a 2 year old (my 2nd cousin, actually) who swears. He's now 6 and still does it, except now he knows what it means (my first cousin, his mother, tried vainly that he shouldn't say it by explaining what they mean. She just made it worse). So, even 6 year olds can swear and know exactly what it means. I, as a rule, try to keep the swearing down to a minimum. To make me look at least half-intelligent (some people consider swearing a part of intelligence, however swearing was just devised (by the Puritans oddly enough) to re-direct anger into word form, instead of physically attacking someone), I created the "Earl's Language" (available on my blog, which is currently down, however check earl60861.spymac.net/blog weekly. It args (an Earl word for angers) me that they took it down when they're upgrading the system. They promised that it would all stay active until the new system was finished, then they'd just shut the old one down). Its pretty spiffy (neat, cool) and lets me say what I want to teachers and authority figures without worrying about getting expelled or fired. I plan to update it when the blog goes back up.
Working without custom textures is an art in itself. How easy is it just to put in a custom texture to give the feeling of skill? Instead, if you use defaults, you have to split brushes, texture them individually, UV Unwrap like Canada (Earl for the antipode of paradise) and mess with the lighting. This may take a good long time, however it shows you are dedicated and willing to do the work to get it done.
Anyway, I'll download some of them tonight, the rest tomorrow. I'll review them on Sunday and Monday I'll RF-fest, either by mapping or MP playing. |

Not my best work, but still not bad. I used to do this for fun. Maybe I'll bring out some old work. Anyway, in case you can't read it, it says, "You Got Pwnd!". It is what you are, admit it.
Cut down on the swearing and I'll stop saying "pwn". Let's see, I went over the history of "pwn" and "own", so you know why I say it (basically it brings you closer to the online gaming community, which is where we're at).
Pred is good at mapping, and I'm afraid I can't release it outright tomorrow. The ladder doesn't want to work in SEFOTRF and neither do the decals (its funny, one decal will take up the entire side of the wall and turn it all white. I've a good idea of where I went wrong, so I'll fix it tomorrow). The water one, I'm just going to move the sub and adjust the particle emitter's decay rate. Other than that, its pretty much perfect. The only downside I should warn the rest about is that if you go in the water, you'll miss out on a lot of the action (unless you decide to watch his wonderous AI scripting, instead of living it).
By the way, you pronounce it "pown", not "p-w-n".
EDIT: It turns out the "you got pwnd!" doesn't display like it should. Just take my word for it, why else would I write "pwn" that many times? If you want, I'll take a screenshot, but the message is too big for one frame. I'll copy it into notepad and post it, see if that works if anyone doesn't believe me. right....ummm first off i agree with I.A.C on the "pwn" thing completely. second.. u left out a whole bunch of mapper. u said that u didn't know you had to go thru the archives to find all the good mappers. u don't. all u had to do was not assume that those were the only good ones. u could have easily of said tht it's very good.IMO if a map is d/lded and played at least once and ppl rate it good and ppl have fun whiole playing, it is a good map.
Now as for all that chat it seems to me like you think you are one of God's greatest gifts in mapping.not to say u aren't, although you might not be. You also said that it's basically better to use defaults cuz it takes more skill...well if u call time consuming and the outcome being boring "skilled" then my job is so dam skilled!
With custom textures you can bring a realistic feel to a map and make it your own.With defaults, you'restricted by RED's very small boundries. Take {DVL} I.A.C's Desk for examplewww.iacsdesk.tk LO or any other micro map made by W.R.E.C.K.S or Sobe or like 87% of the maps for RF.
My theory is that any mapper who think's any other mapper is crap and says it is not a good mapper for RF. Cuz I believe that every mapper should help new or troubled mappers along and give themj support.
The thing that really gets me is that you're promoting a Dell!!! 
and it seems like you're Predalienator's manager the way u said that if u buy a dell you won't have any excuse not to play his maps. A little conceided IDK but to me it sounds that way.
Now after this post you're probably gonna hate me and rate my next my a 0 or something like that but it really won't bother me cuz i don't make maps for ratings and being cool. I map because I find it fun. I can use my creativity very well in RED. But some ppl find it cool to just post retarded ratings in maps hat they probably don't play just cuz they think they're amazing. if he really hated it wouldn't he rate it 0. Leads me to believe he didn't even d/l the map and just did it for 1 of 2 reasons: either he thought i was a threat or competition(i don't know why he would think that), or he did it cuz he likes being an A$$. either way it's just very sad to see someone act that way.
This topic shouldn't have even been 2 pages or more long. You never had to ask people if you wanted your maps here. And now because of some arguementative posts and some stuck up replies this thing has become so off track. Just post your maps, let people play and rate them, and get on with your life and let us get on with ours ok?

P.S: the word "pwn" cannot be pronounced for their are no vowles.I was once told that the word was simply a mis-type but if that's so then how come people put it on their sprays for CSS? or in topics? or in real life?! I'm positive they have more than enought time to check their spelling while posting, even more so when creating a picture in Photoshop, and an unlimited amount of time to rethink a statement and not say "pwn" in real life cuz more than likely in life, if you're hanging with half decent people you're going to get such a beatdown.
EDIT:
it does not bring you closer to the gaming community.to get closer would be to be creating a game. and if it's pronounced "pown" it'd sound like the word "clown". nad if so then why the hell do people not type "pone"?! oh and you said that you don't like swearing, which is fine.
