Well, it depends how often it crashes. Is it EVERY TIME? And after what length of time does it crash? And is this timevalue the same every time it crashes? Or is it when a certain thing happens, like you switch to a certain gun? |

it just quits to the desktop and it will do it as many time as it likes.
the computer does not crash just the game quits. it happens at any time for no reson.
it quits out evey time i play now, the game just disapears and the desktop is in your face |

tha sometimes happens to me when im testing my HUDs and i forget a file, or when someone with a modified UI sends me a map to test, i get a cannot create player entitie.
but i dont ever get that error, im thinking your missing a important file in your ui.vpp, try that default one, if it still gives that error then reinstall RF.
PS. you wont loose our maps unless you acually "delete" your user_maps folder |

I think that reinstalling Red Faction isn't a bad idea.
just don't forget to back up your Custom maps. |

Quoting skvlad01 | RF caused an Access Violation in module RF.exe at 001b:0056a78a.
Read from location 07ded007 caused an access violation.
|
How big is your graphics card and have you installed new drivers lately?
also maybe one of your RF files has become corrupt and it can no longer read the information. (seems RF.exe may be the file in question)
It could also mean you are putting to much into RAM ... do you have any other programs or applications running at the same time as when you play Red Faction?
just throwing some ideas around. Im not actually sure of what is causing it. |

my video card is a nvida geforce 6600GT 128 meg ram.
i have a gig of ddr 400. there is nothing more that what usally runs in the background. exept i found a case of spyware yesterday runing in the backround. its gone now and i have not tested rf sins then. and i put a new exe file in to.
ps i did not install new drivers for any thing yet, but my video cards driver is not digitaly signed. last time i update my drivers it killed my os |

If you have not installed any drivers and the graphics card was working before i would rule that out and you seem to have more than enough RAM even if programs are running in the background. (I only have 512 and RF runs fine with Xfire, MSN, AVG and winamp all running as well as all the processes.) and spyware shouldnt really cause it so im thinking the corrupt file or in worst case scenario your RAM is getting ready to die |

the ram is fine coz all other games work fine exept rf2 that crashes the computer completely some times by is does the same thing on my brothers box, i think rf2 is just crap and unreliable and there no patches to fix its problems.
im downloading the latest drivers for my card now. should i uninstall the old 1's firt befor i put the new 1's on. last time i updated it killed my OS maybe coz i forgot to uninstall the old 1's first. |

then restart. turn of any anti virus and install the new drivers |

when i updated my video cards drivers , i forgot to uninstall the old drivers. so when i restarted the system and got to windows, i found that the system was so unstable that i could not get to the start menu with out crashing the computer let alone play games. so i had to format the c drive and install windows again. so now i hesitate to update my drivers.
Do u think that windows died coz i did not uninstall the old drivers befor I put the new ones on? |
