Hey guys,
I'm currently having a tad problem with my new wireless network. I have a Belkin 125mbps, 2.4Ghz G-Router (With ADSL modem and it seems to be a tad slow and it keeps disconnecting and it doesn't say why
My Average signal is 11mbps and that's when no one else is using the router... and surely it should be much bigger then that for a 125mbps??
And the internet is slower then what it used to be (I have broadband '512')
Doe's anyone know how i can boost the signal at all, or do i need to upgrade to a higher speed internet connection... |

Maybe if you move the Router to a more close position to your PC Signal Reciever, maybe you can get a better signal. |

Well, the 125MB/s is what it's MAX is Unless you have a DC or OC line I doubt you will EVER get near that speed
11MB/s! You say that is slow, you may want to do an online Bandwidth Check to see how fast your connection is because I am thinking it's around 1MB/s-7MB/s, if that.....
I see you say that you have "Broadband 512", which should mean you connect at 512KB/s |

125Mbps is probably one of those 'double speed things' that rarely work.
Last time I checked wireless connections were 54mbps for a Wireless-G card, 11mbps for the older type (B? cant remember...).
It doesn't matter what speed your router is... if you've only got an 11mbps card you'll only get 11mbps!
As for the disconnections...
1)
If your router has a 'speed boost' of any kind... turn it off. These things rarely work and cause more disconnects than imaginable because the two channels seem to like interfering with each other...
2)
Make sure there are NO mobile phones (cordless landline phones especially) or microwaves near either the router, near any PC on the wireless network or in the 'line of sight' between any PC and the router. Microwaves disrupt the frequencies your network will be using whilst cordless phones often use the same frequency... causing things to fall over. |

You bought a cheap Belkin, that's ok. But they have a 24/7 tech support number listed right on the box, why are you bothering to post this here? Call them, they will fix your problem in less than a minute. |

Cheap?!?! It cost me £150 to get the router and 2 wireless desktop cards and one laptop card... i hardly call that cheap. Well i only get £300 odd per month
I thought i might as well post it here because maybe one of the members knew how to fix it. Plus i hate speaking to people on the phone... espically someone i don'y know. And the support center is probably somewhere in india |

Nope, they are not in India, maybe Indiana I bought that router and a wireless card here for $10 each after rebate at Best Buy. I would call that DIRT CHEAP I don't have anything against Belkin being less expesive then the other routers. They also have lifetime warranty and 24/7 tech support. What more do you want? Just call them, they are helpul. Since your talking in that goofy L money, I'm guessing your not in US, so maybe the support wont be as outstanding as here |

Whatever the heck that goofy symbol is, I don't have a clue how you would even type it. It looks like maybe an L or an E with some kinda X in it or something.

It's that thing in yellow, I have no idea what to call it and I don't know how much that means. There is no router, card, or anything in the US that comes close to $150, unless your looking at Cisco professional stuff. The very most expensive retail networking equipment is Linksys (owned by Cisco ) And I just did cards and wireless router for my neighbor for $100.
Anyway, it goes back to, if you buy a product with a good warranty and a good history of customer service, why not use it? |

The symbol is a pound or a 'quid' as many people call it.

£150 = about 260US or 310 Canadian which seams about right for a router, and 3 wireless cards... because router is about 100 CDN and each card is around 60-70 cdn which would equal 310. or the router could be more and the cards could be cheaper. |

is your house a new build one, the new houses have a lot of metal in the houses so it cant connect right.
in older house case it could be becours the connection is disturbed by some power cabels or water pipes in the house.
a wireless connection is crap anyway, it disconnects way faster and it's easy to hack. |
