These words are not intended to be a slam to L4Y, but they would hopefully have the same effect if they were.
When I first started coming to this site, there were thousands of downloads to enhace your game. Now a small trickle of goodness is all that passes through once and a while. Even HL2, which has been on the market for a shorter time than most of the other games, has lost MODers interests. This may be in part to the new site format.
While still one of the prime hubs for game modifications, this site has lost it's touch. |

Traffic is saying otherwise... still having similar numbers of downloads and hits. The lower updates is mostly due to the fact that Red Faction isn't getting anywhere near as many new stuff as it used to, HL2 is currently missing a staff member and UT sections are sporadically updated at best.
Include PC in the stats and the number of hits since the relaunch has doubled in any given timeframe. |

i joined like 2 years ago, i can speak from experience.
when i first started comming here Frank would do like 10 map + updates twice a week. now they are down to 5+ maps every full week, this is probably because RF was released in like 2000 so it is 5 years old. it is still alot of fun for the people who like it, and play it. its alot of fun for me to map, and i think that if it wernt for l4y i wouldnt of started doing anything RF in the first place. |

actually it was released in 2001 But SKA has a good point. You can't really speak from experience if u've only been here for 6 months, and haven't been around when the site was in full bloom. I joined this site in like 2002-2003.i remember when i heard about RFU1 and i was so excited. I remember d/ling every single map on L4Y and putting them on cd's and spending hours playing them with {DVL} I.A.C. I remember the massive map updates with great maps that we had for RF here. I remeber Slterfest and his antics tryiong to convince us he was someone else....the point is, I remember the great times and the bad times here, and IMO i feel as if i'm family here and so is everyone else to me. If i were playing them in a server and someone had made a comment about them i would back that L4Y person upo 100%. It's cuz i've been here so long and have seen what the ppl are like online. In no way can L4Y be described as "a sinking ship" or any other nautical vehicles being submersed in any liquid more ppl are joining and maps are still being released and still new ideas that were never thought of before are being mentioned. I fyou truly feel that this is a site going down hill after only 6 months then maybe you'r just here for the maps and not the atmosphere. |

The same goes for me. I joined up to this site about 2 years ago, but didn't start posting til around 1 1/2 years ago.. and in that time I've grown to... absolutely definitely really much a HELLUVA lot love ya all with the exception of the HPosers |

I have another account, but it did not work. Also, I visited this site well before you had to becaome a member to download files (I think that's the case now)
I may have laid it on a bit too heavy, after realizing that the site is about the community, not the downloads. But it is hard to ignore this when you have limited access to the internet.

ive been here way back when l4y was all about descent. and then RF came in, but i didnt get RF until about a year after it came out. so all i did was just browse around the site. i loved the old classic look of l4y. |

Yeah the site was weird at first, but look at the amount of visitors we are getting at the moment.... red faction updates are going to start dieing slowly... its good that the game is still being played now really!
Once quake 4 comes out its gonna be cool |

I rarely download maps, or anything really. Im here for the talk/chat. I have DLed a few UT2K4 things though. 
Im really disappointed RF is visibly descending. I have not been able to map for a while now. just cant get anything to coe to me, when I do its only for a small bit.  |
