Whenever i try to download DVL Ambush 2 i always get a file named "{DVL}20Ambush202" with precent signs between some leters...
it has no extension in its filename and when i open it with win rar, win zip, or Rflnch32 its corrupt. Because i assume its either a .rar, .zip or .vpp...
I really wanted to try it out... But turned out to be a big waste of time! |

Hmm a few ppl seam to be having problems with that file... I think I'm going to upload a .rar version and hopefully that will fix the problems. Now I got to re download it though because I don't have it on my comp anymore.
EDIT: Grr I can't even download the file... around 20 mb downloads then it says download complete... and it definately isn't because the file is 74mb... grr I tried like 4 times to download it (3x in IE 1x in FF) and the same thing happens every time... |

You don't have the file anymore?
I'm really interested in that thing! |

Yay I tried downloading it in Opera and it fully downloaded. so I'm gonna rar it up and re upload it. Hmm should I rar the exe, or should I just rar up all the files in the exe then tell the people where to put everything? |

If you rar up a bunch of folders, when someone un-rars the file the folders will be kept.
So if you have some files (for example) that belong in 'maps' and some in 'data'
Make two folders, 'maps' and 'data' put the appropriate files within those folders and rar those two up together.
Now when people unrar the file in the directory on their machine containing the folders 'maps' and 'data' the files in the rar file will be placed in the right places... |

Rar the exe if you want.
If the exe is more comfortable for installation leave it as it is
yay ...yay! |

yay ...yay! | just upload the .rar .exe file file and give me the name and link to where the file is. I can then replace it. .exe files tend to mess up when you download them. IMO I think we should allow them or GARNER should fix the PROBLEM! |

Personally I never download exe files. A rar or zip you can look at extract as you want.
Double clicking on an exe can do anything to your computer... unless you trust the author its a risk I dont take.
Releasing stuff as an exe is bad practice IMO. |

Ok I re uploaded it in rar and re filled out a form so the rar version should be in next rf update. I hope the file uploaded fully because the size of the file on the ftp was the same size as the 1 on my comp but the ftp program said 2 sec left for the upload and it stayed like that for like half an hour so I just cancled. |

HMMMM it stop responding?
I see it on the FTP server and it seems to be the correct size.
But here is the thing, it's a large file. Too large to leave it on the hands of a Canadian.
I was able to download it and as usual the .exe file name was screwed up. I renamed it to {DVL}Ambush202.exe. The .exe of course disappears. I did as you did and win.rared it and win.ziped it. Well guess what. Win.zip beat the all mighty, all powerful win.rar. That's right baby. Win.zip was able to compress it by a whole .1 megs smaller. IN YOUR FACE WIN.RAR
Any way, back on what I was trying to say. I will upload the file in the morning to the site and replace it with the win.zip version.
F.Y.I. the .exe file is still in the compressed file. I just did it to prevent the renaming error that occurs when you download a .exe file from this site.
I will post here again once the file has been replaced. You will also be able to see that it was replace because it will no longer be a .exe file nor a win.rar file but a WIN.ZIP that will be available for download. |

Like stated above, I am posting to let you know that this file has been replaced:
SP - {DVL} Ambush 2
{DVL} I.A.C I see that you did what I asked you nicely NOT to do, which is to do the upload page. Anyway, I am going to reject the file that you uploaded only because of what you stated earlier.

^Those are your own words^
It's too big of a file to leave to chance.
D2k go try the download again. I dare you, I double dare you. |

Hmm the one I uploaded, I didn't just compress the exe file, I extracted everything from the exe and then rared everything. I also edited the readme a bit and included a picture that might help people see what level they were on if it crashes... because it tends to do that sometimes.... I submitted a form because I was hoping I could get it in the new red faction files news post to maybe get a few more downloads. But ohwell I guess just zipping the exe and replacing the file will do.
edit: D2K you got extreme lag on some levels? How many MB is the Nvidia GeForce FX 5200? Because I hardly get any lag when playing it on my laptop and thats only 2ghz and an integrated 64mb vid card. and according to your profile you have 1.8ghz and I'm guessing the vid card is 64mb or more... strange.. |
