I have an Ultra3 SCSI HDD and I need to get the files off of it. I am pretty sure this has my old classic games on it, such as Rise of the Triad and AOL Doom. This Ultra3 SCSI slot looks like a empty slot with a single stick in the middle going horizontally like this:

My other SCSI drives have holes in the ports(type of Wide SCSI).... |

You'll need a SCSI card and then an Adapter. The most common cables these days are 68 pin and 50 pin. You'd have to find any adapter to go from one of those to whatever you need.
How on earth did you end up with an old PC that had SCSI in it? SCSI was and still is rather expensive. |

My father was a computer engineer and got paid pretty damn well. He worked for http://www.richouxassociates.com/
Anyway, we have about 5 to 10 of these laying around and I am trying to strip the files from them
It is a nice 10,000RPM! However, I don't have a mobo to run it. And, I will look around for an SCSI controller or adapter. Oh and Mr.Wizard, these drives are only 9.8GB to 18.2GB! Not much at all.
And you say how did I end up with an old pc with SCSI in it?! Well, simple, it WAS NOT in a pc at all, just parts my father had bought and left laying around. He had the kind of money to upgrade and throw the old parts out the window
And SkipRat, I detest eMachines, but, since it is the ONLY pc with a net connection at my house, I am stuck with it until we switch to RoadRunner Cable and hook up this Linksys Wireles-G w/SpeedBooster I just have parts laying around from 1994-2004! lol |

oh hahaha SkipRat. That last mobo I posted about used to run this SCSI drive if I am not mistaken. lol
And your just hating on 300MHz I got a 366MHz upstairs running old games requiring DOS.
And I expect to get all my paid for games off this drive. And maybe even Windows 3.1 Also, these games would include Rise of the Triad, Quarantine, Doom, Hexen, Heretic, Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Duke Nukem 3d, etc. All old classics. |

The HDD has no correlation to what speed the processor is. Its either SCSI, ATA or SATA. The old SCSI stuff is still around and used quite frequently. SCSI has amazing redundancy and recovery.
Regardless, MOST PII and PIII's are going to have ATA. The cable looks similar to a SCSI cable, but they are incompatible. SCSI is wider and has more pins. |

MrWizard, there are MANY types of SCSI out there
What you may be thinking of is Wide SCSI. I am using a Wide SCSI for my server pc and this is an Ultra3 SCSI.
My local shop doesn't carry an adapter for it
Anyone think of any good shops for stuff such as this? This HDD was made in APR-2000. And is:

80P ULTRA3 SCSI Drive
RATED: 5V 750mA 12V 1100mA
|
So I am looking for an 80pin adapter. |
