And I think, but I'm not sure, that if your on the gold membership, you won't get the ads either. This won't be a do or die type of deal. Garner's not enacting the Gold membership to close off everything to folks who can't pay. He realizes that there are some who won't be able to pay. But just because some folks can't pay, doesn't mean the site doesn't cost money to run. He's said in another post that if he doesn't start getting the money from somewhere, that the site will close. Personally, I don't know how he's doing it now. $3500 a year is a hard hit to the pocket. Something like 80gb or something ridiculous, about as much as your standard hard drive. Most free hosting packages offer soemthing like 40mb, which is nothing like what L4Y needs, so no, thats not an option Garner    Posted 3rd Aug 2005 1:22pm Post 1248 / 4125 No free hosting will offer 1.5Tb data per month, 100Gb disk space on any form of server unless you happen to know a server admin who's company wouldn't notice the extra bandwidth, server usage and disk space. Ads - will be a choice for the user. They'll be able to turn them on/off as they want. Current thinking is that gold accounts will skip the queue system (technically they enter it, get confirmed they have a gold account and then get shown the file immediately) and therefore be able to use download managers. The site will be perfectly usable by all with or without the account.
