usually in red you put the portals in hallways or rooms, this allows the game to only load certain areas of the map at one time, which leads to less lag

Remember that W.R.E.C.K.S ,legendary mapper who created the microfaction series, has already made a remake of DM - MorpheusXtreme.

What exactly do you mean?
Do you want to cut a brush to get rid of the ps2 faces?
Portals usually cut (air) rooms into multiple other rooms. In open outdoormaps this usually doesn't help because the portals are most of the time in the players view.
If you feel a great impact on the framerate (a lower framerate than 18 on the most detailed/map visible spot) a few portals may help. You'll have to experiment yourself with them, otherwise post some screenshots and other mappers may help you.
edit
these are the possibilities for such a map as morpheus. The red lines are the portals, the black X's mean "that is not possible", the gray boxes are solid brushes. I don't know the layout of morpheus.. I think I'm close to it
It depends on the weapon placement, on the details and many other things. These portal layouts are just an example.

morpheus extreme was a good map but wasnt close to the original... mine and stals was designed more of a replica and i think theres even another map after that as well so I think morpheus has now become a little pverdone to be honest.

As I remember Beast released a Morpheus map about a week before WRECKS released his version. Talk about unlucky.
Beasties was good but it didn't look as good as WRECKS and niether were a patch on the original UT version... Still good maps though.
Think I downloaded Len and Stal's version but can't remember ever playing it. God knows which hard drive its on now.
Ps. What happened to our little Beastieboy? Haven't seen him anywhere for a while now...
Edit
What the hell does this post count thing mean? 103/103? Do I have 206?
You mean I had 102 posts carried over from the old site?
That's surprising. Actually it's pretty shocking.
Then again a lot of my posts were deleted or moved to someplace "safe" on the old site. I guess that means about 1 in 7 of my undeleted posts made it to the new site.
Bet you all of them just say "LOL"

No I just cant find any clear air to cut with portals. I don't need portals to boost frame rate coz it's all ready 120 FPS, just to stop RED from completly crashing the compy. The map runs perfect in MP, but crash all the time wile in RED
Portals work well if you're able to place them so you 'don't' look throughit to another. Basically you can only look at one at a time, otherwise they can't register it as a new room. Check the View/ Show rooms in different colours to see if your portals work.
