Has anybody noticed that every Unreal Game Made the Sniper Rifle becomes harder and harder to use. I was head shotting all over the place in UT99, then 2003, I got a few, now I am so rubbish with sniper rifle I prefer the Minigun.
Anyone else noticed this. |

Suppose its just how you adjust to the feel of the game really, although, I think it may also be my lack of adjustment to the development in the smoke going over the lense of the scope after each shot, but at least it has given me the ability to get good at close quarters. |

Actually, the headshot detection in UT has caused some problems. In UT99, if the crosshairs were on the top 1/6 of the player when it was shot, it was a headshot. In 2K4 all the models are attached to a skeleton and it only counts if you hit the actual skull. Sometimes you'll have the crosshairs on the head, but it won't be a headshot; and sometimes it will be. Also headshots aren't instant kill, they just deal double damage. It's just really random, so I always aim for the body. 70 damage is still pretty sweet. |

i did think it was unusual that i killed someone by shooting them in the head but the game didn't think it was a headshot. that would also explain why any charachter with headgear, like a big hairstyle or a hat, if you shoot that it isn't a headshot. but there still are times where you swear your crosshairs are right on target but the shot seems to go through without hitting. any idea how that sometimes happens? |

Well... Maybe you didnt hit the person in the head.. you may have hit them in the body and they were low enough on health/armor to be killed!  |

Yeah the newest rifle is a piece of crap. most of the time if you get a headshot, it deals damage, then the other sniper pegs you....

It seems like you can only shot heads off with the lightning and sniper rifle.
Is it possible to do a headshot (which will be announced) with other default weapons like the flak cannon?
I think it was, with the minigun, but not sure.  |

Yeah tell me about it, the smoke from the sniper rifle when it's shot is a major pain in the CENSORED The lightning gun is slightly better at it, but I just have a thing against the lightning gun. A sniper should use a sniper rifle ¬_¬ . Bring back the ut99 sniper rifle!  In the meantime, I've been using the Professional Sniper Rifle which is on this site, 20x scope, the accuracy on it means you'll know for SURE when you get a headshot, but you need to watch out cos it's one seriously powerful weapon! Takes out vehicles!! Normally one shot kills even on torso. |
