I think I am going to get UT2K4 asap I get money for it.
So here is some basic questions as I am new player.
1. Where i can find good practice opponents (not including bots)
2. How good are average player in bot scaling
3. Is there some other maps and mods that I should absolutely check out exept Air Buccaneers and Red Orcresta.
Also here is some my personal feelings about that game on base on demo version.
What i played demo I would say that far more better multiplayer game than some others(basic modes). |

On servers(provided you have a broadband), otherwise against bots
What server?
Depends what game type you want to get specialized in.
But since you're a beginer, i would say: any server that is not empty

Better than you and they'll stay so for a while. Actually players don't behave like bots. They are not as accurate as godlike bots but they dodge better.

First of all i think air bucaneer and red orchestra suck.
I suggest chaos UT2k4, U4E (new weapons), RPG ut2004, apoc matrix, bullet time, relics, weapon stuff and vehicle stuff and as many new vehicles as you can. |

The thing about bots in multiplayer is that you CAN'T hide from them like you would be able to with human players, which sometimes is a good thing. I usually play VCTF maps and trust me having bots in the servers is most helpful when looking for the person who has your flag. The thing that sometimes is unbelievable is how the Hosers(Bots) shot down your Redeemer out of the air with a Sniper Rifle. LOL... ... |

There's a spot to hide on Face ][ I use all the time... the level with the pyramids. Put it on Zoom Instagib, go to the top level, and to the point where you can barely see the middle of the level zoomed in. Now, you may snipe freely as long as you don't move. I always get bots shooting at me up here, but for some freakish reason they can't hit me. I put it on 32 bots, top difficulty, and lots of caps and time, and have a super gib sniping haven. It's not uncommon to be well into the 2-300's before you finally get sniped. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. |

| Quoting Pickles | It's like shooting fish in a barrel. | Man Hoser, I think you need to get out of the country and into the city if you think that playing UT2004 is like shooting fish in a barrel. Also here in the city we called them aquariums not barrels.
But my point about the bots is that you can follow them or see the direction they are going or shooting at to find out where your opponents are. They sometimes can be more helpful than human players. |

Alright, we'll try to tackle this sequentially.
1. Best practice? Use the bots, trust me. The problem with going online is that you'll be up against people that have been playing UT2K4 nonstop since it came out, and some that have been playing all forms of shooters for longer than that. As a newbie, going online will be disheartening, because you will be instantly and brutally destroyed. People just have that much more practice than you do. The bots actually aren't so very bad; they're not master strategists by far, but they will give you situations that mimic most of the basics you'll find online. Get comfortable fighting high-level bots, then try to venture online.
2. It's hard to compare players to bots. Players do a lot of things that are technically stupid, but work surprisingly well. You see, as the bots get harder, their strategies don't increase all that much, but their aim jumps dramatically; you'll get bot squads roaming the landscape with a 5-chain linkgun obliterating you, and they basically become aimbots. Also, in teamgames, you'll find that it's like being on the recieving end of a horrible teamstacking; your bots will all suck, and your enemies will all rock fiercly. (Try it sometime; in onslaught [particularly in Dria, last node] or bombing run, your bots' scores will be terrible compared with the enemy bots). Players, by comparison, won't aimbot you nearly as much, but they'll camp the redeemer a lot more (expect it to go off within five seconds of its spawning every time, like clockwork), and they use vehicles in MUCH smarter ways; a bot with a manta will never be one tenth as good as a good player with a manta.
3. Mods? Definitely check out UT2004RPG, VCTF (as it's not technically standard; it's in the game but there are no maps for it by default), vehicle invasion, vehicle detonators... I'm a big fan of mutators, in case you haven't noticed. The battlebikes are good, and if you can find a working download of the personnel vehicles, grab it (and tell me wher eto find it ) |
