ESRB slaps dreaded rating on controverial best-seller; Take-Two lowers guidance; Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Target pull game from shelves.
After percolating for weeks, the Hot Coffee controversy has finally boiled over. Today, Take-Two Interactive announced that as the result of an investigation by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESR , Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will now bear an AO for Adults Only rating for "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, [and] Use of Drugs." Sad to see another great game pulled off the shelves! Makes you wander how old the person is thats behind the desk making these decisions!
*future* - Becomes one of those guys behind desk and allows the "gore" games to go onto shelves!........... Makes millions in doing so! |
3D Mark '01 My score is 25,472! BEAT IT PUNK! |

The only thing making the game an AO game is the 'Hot Coffee' modification not even made by Rockstar! (although it does unlock original content created by Rockstar) |

Well to protect rockstar from being shutdown by the crazy old people in the goverment they have to protect themselves. Why cant they just sutdown all the links and websites that are providing the hot coffee mod.I have friends as young as 9 years old playing GTA San Andreas and they dont get violent or become porns they just act like normal sensible people. |

Why don't they shut down all the links and websites?
Because they can't.
If they could, people wouldnt still be able to download movies, music, and game cracks from the internet either.
In the early stages of the game's release, Rockstar praised the game for it's 'high customisability', meaning mods. Most games these days allow modification. You'll find a mods section on most of the game sections here at L4Y.
GTA: Vice City had a huge mod community and Rockstar didn't mind, it isn't until mods uncovered something that Rockstar didn't like that they suddenly started calling modders 'hackers' and the likes.
Now they are concidering legal action against Gameshark, Action Replay, and perhaps even the modding community.... |

Quoting Dark Jon | i don't know why they even put sex minigames in there anyway if they're not even used in the game. | Yeah how stupid are they. They should no to delete that sex program and then tested it against some modders to see if they could find that program.I think i,ll buy GTA San Andreas in Malaysia coz the goverment doesnt care about games I have been playing San Andreas in cyber cafe,s and i think i shoud own it myself. There is no age limit in playing games here yahoooooooo. The only action the goverment has taken on the gaming community is putting polices undercover in cyber cafe,s to catch any student be it kids or high school dudes and then send them back to school .And then they get caned by the teachers Serves them right for not going to school. |

It was most likely just left-over code form another game idea that never made the final release. A game of the size of San Andreas would have to be hard to put together all ordered, so its likely that stuff could get left over.
But in my opinion, they really should have been more careful. |

Yeah well it's no wonder that they rated GTA:SA so since it is truly an game for adults since it contains so much unsuitable stuff for kids |

The mini-game which wasn't even to be part of the original game was what gave it the AO tag, not the M tag... it would have been fine otherwise!
Anyways... AO big rip, you can still buy it online and it only adds one more year here in the US! (17 to 18)...
Anyways whens this bad boy coming to the computer... or is it out for the computer... I'm so outta the times! |

I saw this on the news a yesterday. Im glad its getting an AO rating because it will hopefully inform parents what they are really letting their kids play. However i have no complaint because i can get it whenever i want. Unforunatley im not much of a GTA fan... |
