it took me 3 days to finish hl2, literally within the hour i wake till i go to sleep.

but when i play new games i tend to explore every area i can the first time around, however i disagree with someone who said they can beat it 4 times in a day. That is BS because the game is too big to do something like that. Second, if you dont get tired of playing a game the first 2 times through in the same day there is something wrong with you...

Anaways, my favorite part about hl2 was the great physics, and nice animations, everything fit together really well, however the only part i disliked was gordons lack of communication to the main characters (or complete lack of it). Personally I would have thought the game would been better if gordon actually conversed with some people. But i guess its ironic how gordon makes his entire way through the game without saying a word, no tactical commands, no opinion about whats going on, hell, i bet if he did meet the devil himself he wouldnt have a word to say, well probably not even a scream.

Other than that the game is terrific.

but steam is CENSORED and always will be. because its frequent crashing of the program itself and my computer.

Because of STEAM there is no way I can play this game. It is a real pain in the nuts. In future any game that requires me to register and download bits of code before I can play it will not get bought. There simply is no reason to do this - I f*ckin' hate VALVE now

Even if I got Broadband I am not convinced I would upload this game, just because I don't like the idea of STEAM being present on my computer - from what I have heard it is the biggest bunch of arse recently compiled.

If you buy the retail version, it should't take you too long to get up and running. on a 56k connection, I got everything set up and running in a few hours... including all the waiting for downloads... probably take longer nowadays, as you'd have to DL all the updates in between, but seriously, this game is too good to miss for the sake of spending a few hours installing.

Is it at all possible to have a HL2 thread without someone bitching about Steam. Here's a massive IT, now see if you can get over. Seriously, it happens all the time and is totally off topic.

"The biggest bunch of arse recently compiled"? You see what happens when you believe everything you "hear".

I, um, didn't give an opinion there. My other opinions on things are based on the facts as i sees them. I respect yours even if i disagree with them.

darragh your the one thats off topic in threads. constantly telling people what they have said is wrong....

enough man!! Mcbain is right, about 99% of people that use steam actually hate it. I think its cool however, saves me searching for all these patches for games.

People moan when games have no support. people moan when games have too much support.

People moan - "get over it"

If you disagree with me and think im an idiot, PM me

Half-Life 2 is a great game in physics, weapons, characters, and story.
The game isn't extremely hard but more towards a nice Medium level even on Hard.... Or maybe that's just me

And peeps h8ing on Steam. Steam isn't that bad. It has it's bugs of course, like every program does. However, they are working on updates for it which are automatically downloaded once Steam is started.

And to clear this crap up. Everyone says it takes about a few if not more hours to install Half-Life 2. That is utter Bull[censored]. It took me a whole 32min. for the Install with updates, etc. The only thing that might cause peeps to have slow Installs is the use of 56k and below. The updates might take a little longer for the slower connection speeds.

And about support. Does anyone remember Red Faction? NO SUPPORT AT ALL

Oh and for information on the computer I installed HL2 on:

Personally I have never had any major problems with Steam, took me around an hour to do the first download when I got the game but that was at peak time. All other patches, done within minutes.

The only thing that bugs me is Counter Strike seems to get its bugs fixed a lot quicker than Half Life 2.
