You probably accidentally hit "Q", and locked the brush. Select the brush, hit "shift+Q" to unlock it. See if it works again |
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. |

Open the map and rebuild. Then hit "shift+Q", and rebuild again. It should unlock all brushes. Then try and see if you can select the brush. |

Yeah you can't actually select the brush if it's locked with Q. Simply hit Shift+Q and it will unlock all hidden brushes
Cheeky Tip
Q - Lock Selected Brush(es)
Shift+Q - Unlock Selected Brushes
H - Hide Selected Brush(es)
Shift+H - Unhide Selected Brushes
If you have a rather complicated map, and you want to work on a particular brush in vertex mode then you'll know that when you go into vertex mode you'll be overwhelmed with the complexity and nightmarish mess of vertices everywhere.
Do This....
Select the brush you are going to work on and press H to hide it temporarily. Then zoom out in one of your 2D views and select every brush in your map and press Q to lock them. Now press Shift+H to unhide the brush you want to work on and low and behold it's the only brush that is editable. Jump into vertex mode and it's the only brush whose vertices show up making life a great deal easier for you. Once you've finished simply press Shift+Q to unlock all your other brushes
I don't know how anyone can build anything in RED ed without knowing this |

lol i didnt know that, thanks i usually just made the vertexed brush in another .rfl then load the group, or make it in a 50X50X50 space outside the map, then delete the space and move the brush into your map

You can't select the textures on a brush that is locked, in fact you can't select it in any mode to alter it. That's the beauty of being able to lock the brushes |
