At least thats what I think it means... These aren't the same forums as the old ones, although some of the stuff has been imported. So your post count reflects how many of your posts exist on this site. Some threads were probably marked as spam-like threads, posts in those topics do not add towards your total post count, to discourage people from posting loads of rubbish in the topic merely for their post count. Once the forum threads from L4Y had been imported I ran a little script that updated all the counts to match the number of your posts imported. Hence you started at 1000+ but once the site updated that count from the actual data here it dropped to what it is now.
