Hey all,
Just to start, I have been playing counter-Strike Source on my comp fine for months now. But when i re-formatted just recently its becane to stop working. Thought formatting wouldnt cause any problems 
(Just to note i've formatted before with css and its worked again)
Anyway, nice the format css wont load anymore.Before u start about ur check u installed ur drivers etc... all done. Everything is back to highest standard and still having problem. Its says in the error that it failed to set video mode. Then it says this program needs DirectX 7.0 conpatable hardware or above....
YET!!! i have DX 9.0 installed?!?!? argh lol
Everything on comp working fine, and i wouldnt think its a virus as its just formatted. Everything is upto date and graphics card has latest Nvidia Driver.Also DX9 is installed fine,
Anyone have any ideas? |

Lol, thats the reason im baffled man.. i just did format the HDD man lol.

Try running it in WINDOW mode... to do this, go to your Steam Menu, PLAY GAMES, RIGHT-CLICK Counter-Strike Source, go to Properties, then Launch Options or something.
Type in the box "-window" without the "+".
If this doesn't work, try running it in SOFTWARE MODE. To do this.. do the same but instead of typing "-window" type "-software".
NOTE... if you get the commands wrong, the game will just start as per usual. To reset the changes just delete the command from the box.... |

ok found the problem. I had the latest Nvidia Driver 77.72. So i check with steam website and it was right there... my exact problem was in my face sitting there... thought it was my dream come true. The New Nvidia Drivers cause problems with running the game.. so it gave me link to download older version of driver that is meant to work fine with Css...
So i get the old driver and now i get another error... This time the error is running shaders... And i look this problem up in steam and it says if u are seeing this error message u need to update ur driver?!?!
CENSORED !!! its a damn circle...it doesnt work with new driver.. and it doesnt work with old...

Yea, it's simple.
You need to delete the registry for HL2, and reregister.
Their is a program called nHancer, which tweaks the registries on games. Look for Hl2, and delete the registry. Start the game and see if the game runs.

Didnt understand any of that lol,
ANyway, solved the problem. CSS doesnt seem to run for me on any of the NVidia Drivers... so i got a Fugitsu driver and all is good |
