I understand what normal Emitters are and how to use them. But I just can't figure out what the heck "xEmitters" are or what they are used for. If anyone knows where I can find out what they are, please tell me!

No, they aren't...they are pretty similar, but have you looked at the properties on those things?? I haven't been able to find any information on them anywhere, and considering how long it's been since I put this up, it seems no one here knows what they are, either...

Im Going to bring this back up
Look silly people
An Emitter is a sprite based emitter, it uses textures from unreal. you know, like emitting a little picture of a sprite.
an xEmitter is a particle based emitter (FOOLS!!) it uses particles like spheres (mainly) that are coloured. ie grey spheres for smoke
You can thank me later, or not

KAH, with emitters you can spawn also static meshes (look at IslandHop, inside the volcano).
xEmitters are eXtended emitters that can also do rain splat effects (as in electricfields) and more complex

I've been playing with (normal) emitters today. I think xEmitter can also use the karma physics, I've seen some k properties but haven't tested anything.
But what I know is that they're using a completly different code and they work completely different. (You can get the same results, but the way you set xEmitters up is different)
Stick to normal emitters if you want to use emitters in maps. I think xemitters are used for advanced FX such as the redemer explosion. (perhaps)
You can do just anything with normal emitters.
A normal emitter is not only sprite based.

xEmitters can have there particles pulled towards an object with 'FT_Drag' in the 'Force Menu'. it produces a similar effect to having a staticly charged ron near water flowing out of a tap (it bends slightly)
To turn on force you go into the force menu in an objects property and change the max force value. 1=full 0=none
