I've put in an advance request for 6 weeks holiday in 2012 already
Well done all cities involved... came down to Paris and London in the end.
Lucky for London that our 'number' on the voting pad was '8'. Which in Chinese culture is the number for good luck/fortune...
See you all in 2012 |

Yeah hopefully if they sort the trains out I might be able to get from north london to south east london in less than 2 hours... which incidently is how long it takes to get from north london to liverpool... IIRC. I think that if i go into watford and then grab the express to heathrow, I can get to paris quicker...
Is wembley going to be the olymic stadium? or are they building a new one?
also heard that wimbledon is going to be used for the tennis, does this mean they might finally do the unthinkable? and give wimbledon a roof?!?
Still, I would like to offer my sincerest thanks to the one person who's impecable sense of timing contributed the most to our victory, President Chirac.... Look at how many people are going to be eating British food now!! What better way to celebrate the 200th aniversary of Trafalgar than to beat the french again

The olympics don't interest me but London spends so much money corrupting the officials.
Anywhere but in Paris. Traffic jam, polution, hooligans and new stadiums i would have to pay with my taxes.
Good thing it's london |

Yes, it costs alot of money to host the Olympics, but cities wouldn't be fighting for it if they weren't getting something out of it. Hosting the Olympics is like a kickstart to the economy. With that many people coming in, the hotel industry skyrockets, all the local restaurants are packed, gas stations are mobbed, etc. Its a hassle if you live there for a few weeks, but the influx of money into the economy provides jobs, etc. It may cost 12 billion to host the Olympics, but what they get back is nothing short of priceless. |
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car. |

Nothing to benefit to me. I'm a taxpayer stuck behind a computer. I never go to a stadium;
But read that article.
Quote | Thanks to its profligacy, Greece now has a 6% budget deficit, in breach of the European Union's stability pact, and its economic growth is projected to slow from 4.2% in 2004 to 2.8% in 2005. "The fact that Greece is in breach of the stability pact is in large part due to Olympic accounts," says Christos Hadjiemmanuil, who is on leave from the London School of Economics to run the state company that is trying to lease out Olympic properties such as the sailing center. | |
