Does anyone know of a good site that sells old computer parts such as Socket 3 motherboards and cpus to fit Socket 3
I am currently in possession of this pc and wanted to see what I could do to it before I sold it.
I have searched Yahoo! and I cant find anything even related to Socket 3 |

NEVA h8 on the past
Hmmmm... I figure I build it for $10 worth of parts then sell it for about $100 + worktime charges which should be about...... $110
But seriously, this mobo once had info stored on it's IBM Ultrastar Ultra3 SCSI HDD, I mean OLD info such as original Duke Nuke, etc. But I plan to extract the files from this HDD to a newer HDD that is in my little server pc then use that old pc for my 8yr old sis
[edit]
I know nothing of old mobos such as these. And the eMachines is my mom's, NOT mine It's the only pc with internet in the house at the moment though

Throw that old mainboard away. I won't even take it if it was for free.
I bet it was made in 1995 or earlier |

Well it would be tempting to buy it just to smash it up
I bid $0.0000000001 which in english pounds is....
£0.0000000000001 I guess.
so round that to nearest half a penny and you get £0.00 thats my final offer! |
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

Both video cards and hard disk drive would definetly require it to be ISA cards. These are really really old parts, like before PCI (32 bit) cards. ISA cards are 16 bits... CPU, as mentioned before a 486 100Mhz, that would probably be a SX one instead of DX.
Memory modules would be EDO type RAM max.. it does not even work with any SDRAM series because they are too long.. As for the hard drive to get it working, I believe you need an ISA hard disk controller as I cannot see any built-in ones. Forget thinking about ISA-to-PCI converter as that would be completely useless and I cannot see any power inputs to the motherboard so I would not have a clue.. maybe sourcing a 250W power supply?
These parts are very rare to find... you probably will end up chewing more than you can bite.
I suggest you might as well sourcing a second hand Ultra SCSI controller card (where in some cases it maybe cheaper and plus they are PCI type so they should work with eMachines.) Hopefully once you get that card you can get the drivers along with it.. if not, you may have to source the chipset's website.. or run Knoppix after you have the SCSI card and the hard disk plugged in of course..
Hope that helps.. |

I found all the parts needed earlier from various sites. I found a Hard Disk Drive Controller, Floppy controller, 8MB RAM, etc.
And the PSU slot is right to the left of the Memory stick in that pick. It's going up and down and not side to side. A good 200 watt should be MORE than enough. |
