Thats across all files on that particular server Grim, the main file server we have here currently serves Max Payne 1/2, Red Faction, Quake 4, Doom 3, Half Life 2, Far Cry, UT 2004 and SG1. You have to be registered to download.
We have the limit to try and prevent hardware meltdown. That particular server is 2 years old (it was the server that Unified 3 launched on) and as such is in rather urgent need of an upgrade. |

This code is kinda, sort of loosely based on Unified but not compatible (hence the missing forum threads - I had to import each thread manually across). Fortunately forum data was the only thing not importable automatically, everything else was modified to work here.
Core wise, this nothing like Unified. The whole core is new and vastly improved over the Unified 3/4 version.
The core is what actually runs the site - you dont see it, but its there on every page. Its job is to work out where you are on the site, load in any appropriate files (functions, config, database, languages or anything else that you may need), process any user that may be logged in or arriving on the site and just generally provide a nice framework that everything else sits on.
Its the first thing that runs when you request a page and it always has the last say as well because it decides how to output the data.
Despite having to do more this new core is faster than the old Unified 3/4 core. Efficiency is everything
I tend to call this 'pF' after the domain that has run the code for the past 14 months during testing. Another name for it could be 'L4Y Version 6'... but whatever it is, it no longer has the Unified name. |

Unified is going onto an archive disk where it will remain for many years to come.
I hear Tricord is working on a new version for his use again, instead of concentrating on files however his is concentrating on pages. One of the most powerful aspects of Unified was its ability to create pages for the site on the fly. It was never really utilised to its fullest however, I think he aims to correct that
This version of the site doesn't have that ability yet. It's on the list however |
