I need to make a matinee movie for an
AS map, and I have found no end of information on making matinees, except for one simple thing: How do you actually implement the movie into the map??? That is, how do you make it work like the regular AS previews? When I run it, the movie runs, but the players still spawn, which messes up the movie. How exactly do you make it so that the movie starts when the map loads, and the match doesn't begin until you click?

This might help, if you haven't already looked at it that is.

"To trigger it, simply set its Tag to OutroScene." (I assume she meant IntroScene)...Aaagh! I can't believe it's that simple!!! I sure never would have guessed that...

Now for another question on the same topic...I got the IntroScene working fine, but the OutroScene wasn't working at all. I looked at the Epic AS maps which seem to show that for some strange reason, you must use an AsCinematic_Scenemanager and ASCinematic cameras(which are terrible...) for the OutroScene. I got that sort of working, but an explosion effect and viewshaker that should have come on(using a scriptedtrigger) whan the scene started, did nothing. My only theory for this is that since the match is over, possibly you can no longer trigger things...but this seems unlikely, since the Epic maps have movers to drag their ASCinematic cameras around that are triggered after the match ends. I've tried everything...anyone have any ideas???

Added: I just tried something and got a really odd result...the camera doesn't actually face the explosion emitter, but instaed points at its path. I tried actually pointing the camera at the emitter and the emitter came on immediately when the clip started. But it shouldn't have done this; it was disabled, and should not have come on for 5 seconds, when it is activated by the scriptedtrigger. I even did a real-time preview in the editor, and it did not come on; it only comes on in the movie, and only if you look at it. Uh...this is getting weirder by the second!

missilemaster, you might need to set a looktarget and put a cameraorientation subaction for that action and set the lookat to the look target. Also there are alot of things that arnt previewable in the editor and only in-game. If you need help, download my matinee from my CDC view it in-game and then open it up in UED and take a look. It is a beginers matinee basiclly. WHat I can do is gather the Matinee VTMs and burn to disk and you give me the money to mail them to you?

I know how to do all of that...but as far as I know, those things can only be done with the more advanced movie tools, and you can only use the pathetic ASCinematic ones for the end scene...for whatever reason. All you can really do with those cameras is move them around; they don't even have a "lookat" option. Stupid Epic strikes again...WHY did they make it this way?!

What the hell are you talking about. Look download my matinee from my CDC and open it up in UED and take a look at it. Also like i said, if you pay me for shipping, I will burn the 3dbuzz matinee movies to disk and send them to you.

and i dont know what you mean by having to use ASCinematic. I used UnrealScripttedSequences, and Scenemanagers. and under the scenenmanagers of course actions and subactions.

Yes, that's because your map is purely a movie map; mine is an assault map. The normal movie tools work fine for the intro scene, but they don't work in the end scene, and since every AS map I've looked at that has an end scene uses the ASCinematic actors to make it, I think it's safe to assume that's what you have to do. The problem is, I can't get it to work for some reason, as explained above.
There wouldn't be much point in sending me the 3DBuzz movies, since they probaly don't even cover the stupid ASCinematic actors...just like every tutorial in existence. Come on...I know SOMEONE knows how to do this, becase they've made maps with it! If you know ANYTHING about making an AS map end scene, please help!
