Ok as you can see there are skybox sections for both UT, UT2k3, and UT2k4 (soon).
To use the skyboxes follow these instructions:
1.) Download the file (of course)
2.) Open up the .zip file with either winzip or Winrar
3.) Extract the .utx file into your UnrealTournamentTextures or UT2003Textures folder
4.) When in Unreal Editor 2.0 or 3.0 select the textures browser and goto open.
5.) Open up the .utx file and it will load.
6.) Create a box preferably 256x256x256.
7.) Select one of the textures and right click on the surface you want to put it on and click apply <textures name>. Well most level designers already know how to do that.
8.) Some textures are large are small (Like Foe's skybox textures) to fix that problem right click on the surface and goto surface properties.
9.) By default in Surface Properties you will be on the tab titled "Flags" or something like that which allows you to chose if the surface is translucent, mirror, etc...you dont want that area..you will see a tab next to that titled "Alignment", click on that.
10.) Once there you will see options like Align to Floor, Wall Pan, Wall Direction, Flip U, Flip V. Well Look for 3 boxes for sizing. You will see that there is a simple way as to like regular size which is 1.0, double the size 2.0, etc.. Select the size you want or you can customize the properties with the other two boxes. Once you select what you want, click apply and it should change the size of the surface texture.
11.) If you dont know how to make the skybox acually work, goto to actors browser and click on the little plus nect to Info, then click the little plus next to zone info and select SkyZoneInfo.
12.) Right click were you want to put the SkyZoneInfo and click on the option that says: "Add SkyZoneInfo Here" and voila there it is (If you did it correctly).
13.) The places were you want the skybox to be viewable, right click on the surface, goto surface properties, goto "Flags" and check the box that says "Fake Backdrop" and unless you want to have a hard time with the lighting, check the box "Unlit".
14.) Do a geometry rebuild and next time your in-game you should be able to view the skybox. |

Watch out for seams though. One thing you can try is to stretch some or all of the textures just a bit like 1.01 for example. Then you can zoom in and line them up by hand. It's a pain to do but it's the only thing I've found to eliminate those horrible seams.
Hopefully when we get the DVD tutorials with UT2004 they will explain how to make those mysterious "SkyBalls" and "SkyCylinders"... |

^A skybox is what the sky is built in. Open up a map in UED and look for the skybox, it is usually outside the main part of the map. |

Ohhhhhh. In the first UT couldn't you use ghost to go into the skybox? I think they would see a giant person running around . |

Possibly. Never tried it though but if it worked it would look funny. |

It is better in the first unreal, ghost into the skybox, spawn somthing in it, and go back to the main part and look at the skybox and see this HUGE thing |
