Im going to try that AVG. I use McAffee, which seems to be a good little proggy. However its now out of date. Im going to be reknewing my Subscription soon I think. I don't have a Firewall, is it worth Downloading ZoneAlarm?
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

Yes it is, its a really good firewall from what I can remember it scored very high in a leak test. As soon as my subscription is up with Norton I'm going to use it.

Doc, there are certain programs laying round on my HDD somewhere that free up RAM, close un-needed processes etc...

I'd be happy to send them to you if you like.

Although the only one which really makes a difference is the one which free's up RAM. I run it a couple of times before I play any demanding games such as HL2 or CSS.

Oh, and it doesn't harm your computer at all. I use it every day at least 3 times no problems with my PC

Have any of you got any advice on how to make my PC run faster...

Overclock?

Anyways, I use ZoneAlarm and Avast! Antivirus. Sure, I'm on dial-up, but I have yet to get a virus, over the last year and a half (since I bought the computer). Using FireFox helps a lot too. Just being smart on the internet and knowing what you're doing will save most of the hassle. So far, since I installed ZoneAlarm (was a few months after I bought the PC), it's blocked 15,256 intrusions, 652 high-rated. I believe it works quite good.

Avast! seems like quite the little program, especially for a free anti-virus. Free updates and everything, unlimited. Only time I ever got a virus on the computer via an MSN transfer (on old computer), it contained it before it infected any files, and was deleted immediatly. Quite happy with it. (It also has an option to make a "chest" for any found viruses, where it is completely removed from any system files and can then be sent in it's little "cage" to whomever for dissecting, say to McAfee or whomever if their software doesn't currently detect that particular virus).
